The Thunderclap of Silence

By Corellian Corvette, in X-Wing

Thought I might try a simple metaphor in the title, maybe it might catch more eyes.

Anyways, I would like to know, why is the Armada Board so quiet while the X-wing forums has its "cup run-ith over". Its so odd that there is a flood of posts and new threads here all the time, while right next store, two links away, lays a ghost town of a message board.

Personally I am super hyped for Armada and check the board every day for new topics people post, hoping either for a good read or to glean some information off them, or to undertake in speculation. This week, the only thing that really happened was a Scammer though there was scum and villainy in Armada too, and tried selling fake passports and credit cards to get into the core worlds. Thankfully that thread was deleted.

Now with X-wing, there is always threads every day that slip off the front page before people even read them. Why is there such a huge discrepancy?

Hype. That's why. Right now for Armada, it's all we have. But we have about two years worth of experience with X-Wing, and 5 wave's worth of releases to talk about, and more stuff coming.

There isn't anything to talk about with armada yet. No battle reports, no complaints of overpowered releases, no list building. We dissected all the information we got from gen con and now there isn't anything else until a new preview article pops up.

There's simply nothing much to talk about with Armada yet. We've got the preview, we've got the demo videos from GenCon and the list of first releases, and... <shrug> That's pretty much it. Wild blind speculation and griping over inconsistent scale can only take you so far.

Well we have already discussed about everything we know from Gencon and the one preview. We really need some more information from it being showcased someplace, having an article, or FFG posting another spoiler to spark some conversation. Where as for X wing we have tons of lists, repaints, complaints for when whatever wave or special release or whatever will get here an etc..

Ah, so the well has run dry for the people who are better informed than I? That seems to be the underlying answer to all of your posts.

I guess the only thing to talk about on the forums is what people would like to see in wave 2 and what they would want out of a campaign system. :/

Personally, I'm more concerned about what's up next for the current game system than speculating on an entirely different game system...

mhm - that's right. I'll just nod my head.

Can't talk to much about a game you haven't played yet.

Because this game has been actually released for two years and all Armada has is one article and a GenCon video?

Yep, need information to generate discussion. That being said, don't go posting about Armada here because no one is active over there. If people are interested in it, then they can visit that subforum.

this is not the forum you're looking for... move along.

Lack of my interest would be my guess.

Actually this post wasn't about Armada, but the discrepancy of posts between armada and x-wing boards

this is not the forum you're looking for... move along.

Actually it is, but I appreciate the reference.

Well it's hard to discuss in depth a game we can't play yet.

Hehe, I guess this is true.

I started a thread over a week ago saying we were running out of things to talk about. And I think everybody here has already covered it as well. MORE INFO, FFG!

Perhaps those who know how to make Vassal mods could cook up something similar to the demo from Gencon? It wouldn't be everything but we could at least get a partial feel and practice the basics.

Wasn't specifically at you. There's been one or two threads about Armada that have been posted here though. So was more just a general reference. :)

Because it's more civilized on the Armada side of things with Fleet Admirals hobnobbing while having a cup of tea.

X-Wing is all about snub nose fighter pilots, tramp freighter scoundrels and scum with their villainy.
