Well, Disney cancelled the Knights of the Republic series and wanted to take a different direction with the video games. I was quite happy about that as I missed the old pc games and didn't care for those video games. I could easily see a platform game come out for it. I'd buy it as I just got my first X-box. They could even take the same flippin' game and just redo it with better graphics.

Oh, and there is that freemium web browser game that is kind of like the old pc game. I did it for a bit, but it just wasn't as exciting.

Knights of the Republic? Do you mean Knights of the Old Republic? Those games were great.

Not sure if people are aware, but you can play these within minutes from various websites. The graphics are not as good as you remember, I promise.

That being said, they are still my favorite games of all time.

TOR has a fairly fun Fighter Combat mode. Yes, they aren't X-Wings and TIE Fighters and the balance is horribly broken. BUT Star Wars + Fighter Pilot + Free = Fun.

You can still play them on your PCs.

At least Tie Fighter.

I installed it couple days ago.

Win7 64bit. Using gamepad.

Runs smoothly so far. And graphics ain't that bad.

I was playing them under Windows 7. It's pretty cool but I would really love to see a HD version made.

XWAUpdate is amazing work and all, but we need an official revival/remake of the series!

I'm sure there will be an influx of new Star Wars video games when the new movies start hitting theatres. One can only hope for an X-wing sim.

I mean they don't have to do any mechanical work its all graphics and maybe some voice acting.

It already exists. It's called X-wing Alliance Update project for X-wing Alliance. They made some very good looking highly detailed models to replace almost all the models in the game.

They also made the game accidentally stupid-difficult when it comes to some re-done models. Extra blaster hardpoints and whatnot. Strike Cruisers are a nightmare to deal with.

I can get behind a New X-Wing game. I don't want the old ones. I know that sounds awful, especially considering I love them dearly. But I want brand new X-Wing games with tons of new content from Episode VII, the prequels, Rebels...

It would just be the greatest thing. All new stuff, and hopefully this time EVERY ship has a unique cockpit. Looking at you, XWA. :/ Also the chance to actually fly an Imperial Shuttle would be wonderfultastic. More than anything I want to fly an HWK-290.

Sweet Jesus I wish they would. I loved KOTOR and KOTOR II, but TOR... Eh. That and the stupid, "lol technology hasn't advanced guys" thing.

Whether or not we see an X-wing/TIE Fighter revival is probably going to depend largely on how well games like Star Citizen, No Man's Sky and Elite Dangerous do at reviving the Space Flight Sim genre. I wouldn't see EA taking a risk on it without first seeing some interest in the genre. If EA sees money in it there's at least some chance they'll look into bringing it back, though I still wouldn't hold you're breath. We're more likely to see something in the vein of the Rogue Squadron series coming back...

I thought the Rogue Squadron were OK, but not a patch whatsoever on the X-WIng games. I much prefer the flight sim style games than on-rails shooters. Big jump forward in style, big jump backwards in substance.

The disappearance of KoTOR 3 had nothing to with Disney. That was LucasArts, which Disney blew up first chance they got.

Free flight like X-wing, Descent etc. is always better than rail-shooters. I meant a new X-wing game, like maybe based off the books, or new stories. No movie stories though. I just wanna fly new content in my Y-wing .

Rails? Rogue Squadron wasn't on rails. TOR's space and Star Wars arcade was, sure, but Rogue Squadron was free flight.
