OT: So when are we getting X-Wing HD?

By YwingAce, in X-Wing

I'd kill many bothans if it got me a new tie fighter game.

I'd rather have Knights of the Old Republic 3, but hell yeah to this too!

We had it in the form of a wow rip off, I tried to like it but it's so bland and I wish they'd put that cash into a next gen kotor.

Whether or not we see an X-wing/TIE Fighter revival is probably going to depend largely on how well games like Star Citizen, No Man's Sky and Elite Dangerous do at reviving the Space Flight Sim genre. I wouldn't see EA taking a risk on it without first seeing some interest in the genre. If EA sees money in it there's at least some chance they'll look into bringing it back, though I still wouldn't hold you're breath. We're more likely to see something in the vein of the Rogue Squadron series coming back...

Which is perfectly fine, Rogue Squadron was awesome. I just hope this time the AI ships are a little more challenging.

Just like in the movies.

Depends on the ship. I prefer my regular TIE Fighters to be utter morons who almost throw themselves into the line of fire from my blasters.

Lame propaganda it's well known the imperial academies produce the best pilots in the universe.

I like smart TIE pilots. Because they're scary. You don't expect them, and they're fast.

Yep. Same goes for Elder Scrolls, but at least we can be pretty sure there'll be another proper one of those.

We have starcitizen coming, that will scratch the itch, and be so **** pretty.

Console melting graphical power.

Hahaha poor consoles won't have a chance to keep up anymore

And that's the problem, if we got another starwars flight sim(ish) game it would be a triple A developer made game, meaning it would be made for the lowest common denominator, that is sadly still the archaic 360.

That means no multi threading.

Also made for control pad so would be pretty limited on how much controls we would have

Don't mock them instead pity them for spending all that money on a low end gaming pc :D

It's taken a long time for devs to realise ignoring the pc was a mistake, but we have a new renaissance thanks to indy devs giving people what they want when the big publishers won't.

Someone should create a kickstarter!

I'm not into consoles, I've got my beautiful $1700 gaming computer :).

Let's see with the actual worth of the dollar...£35, didn't want a decent one then ;)

I spent similar a few years back but now it's time to treat myself to a gpu upgrade, and maybe a 5K monitor.

Or just plug into ya tv

Now the console kids can't go on about how you need to spend so much to get a full set up

I think we will have to depend on the indie/mod community in order to see an updated version of the X-wing flight sims. That also will depend on Disney not shutting projects like that down.
