Kenkirk (Ken-Kirk)

Oicunn (Wee-Koon)

Chiraneau (Sheer-Uh-No)

I'm gonna disagree on this one... pronunciation is more important than 'cool'

Oicunn - Rham-Rahd

It's "OY-kun" and "ki-RAN-ee-ow" until you show me where France is on the galaxy map.

All three put the emphasis on the first syllable.

If you believe Wookipedia and Wikipedia to understand script, languages used and the like, it comes down to this...

StarWars has no 'official' conlang like LoTR and other stories do, so you basically go with the pronunciations of the language that the film was viewed in based on the spelling.

So it appears to be pretty free-form at the moment. Seeing i saw the movie in English, i would go with the following...

Kenkirk - Ken' kurk

Oicunn - Oy' koon

Chiraneau - Chur' ah no

I've initially gone with something like "Oo-ee-kuhn" for Oicunn, but I do like "Wee-koon" better. Thanks, OP.

It's always interesting to see how people interpret names.

And then proceed to butcher them

Nah just kidding, all this stuff is up to interpretation.

But seriously though, I don't see how Oicunn can be seen as "oy-KOON" as in the words racoon and soon. If it were spelled Oicuun with two U's that would make sense, but because it is Oicunn with two N's it should be "oy-KUN" as in the words fun, sun, nun and so on. Adding an extra N doesn't change the sound of the U.

As far as Chiraneau goes, i think it should be "CHEER-uh-no". To me "SHEER-uh-no" is too soft. The hard "CH" sound makes it sound more intense than a soft "SH" sound. And the "-neau" part can't be seen as anything other than "no" to me, as in the word bureau as in Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Nobody pronounces bureau or "byer-oh" as "byer-oo".

Just occurred to me, but there is some precedence for a hard "k" sound from ch. so an argument could be made for Chiraneau to be "Keer-ah-no".
