Another Out of stock Thread

By charlarino, in X-Wing

So I've come to this game from Warhammer fantasy, been playing about 5 weeks now, and I've come to accept that a lot of the miniatures I want are out of stock and probably will be for a while.(millenium falcon for example)

As a newcomer to FFG as a company, I was wondering if this was typical for them, I totally understand that the demand completely blew away any supply they thought would be enough, but will this theme continue? I guess what I'm basically asking is will there ever come a time when I can browse an online shop and pick and choose what ships I want, not from a stock viewpoint, but from a "ooh thats cool" viewpoint?

Barnes. And. Noble.

They are NEVER out of anything.

FFG does keep their page updated so you can see roughly when things are coming.

From the top of the page, go to "Upcoming", select "Minatures" from the drop down and click "Apply".

Yeah B&N good shop - is it in England though? and I know about the updates page, I was just wondering if this was temporary or whether stock would constantly vanish from shelves or you know, with such a hit on their hands ffg would eventually get it together to always have available stock in stores and online.

Ebay... i've never found anything unavailable if you look on the bay

Probably, maybe, no, yes.

That's not really something anyone can reliably answer without at least knowing where in the world you are as different countries have different rates of resupply.

It seems like FFG's overseas logistics have been a continuing problem, especially in the UK. What are the shipping costs like to order from Miniatures Market or Amazon? Is that an option?

Ah sorry, I'm in England mate

Ebay then, you can get most small ships for around £11 with free postage.

Outpost in sheffield usually have good stock levels and are very cheap, as do 'the dice shop'.

Cool will check them out :)

what are you after in particular?

and which bit of the Uk are you in. I know what stock both spirit games in burton upon trent and chimera, forbidden planet and mondo comic in nottingham have at the mo

(or what they had last week when i looked anyway).

I'm not really after anything at the moment mate - thanks though.. I was just asking because I'd like to imagine a utopian future where when I do want to buy some upgrades, I'm not limited by everything being out of stock

At Gencon FFG stated that the added many new factories to help with the supply problem.

The game expansions are out of stock from getting bought up, not from discontinuation.

There are different avenues to look at for obtaining the stuff you are looking for. I would advise patience and steer clear of the E-bay pages that offer huge mark up on "limited" expansions. The restock is coming, it just may take you a couple of months to have it near you.

In the mean time might I suggest you grab all the other ships that peak your interest and have a go with them.

well thats just ebay then isnt it really.. dozens of stores on there that have everything in stock at the mo.

So i suppose the 'future' is now.

I recomend

http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/creativeworldgames

this guy will split packs so if you want for example a 2nd red royal tie but dont want to buy 'imperial aces' he will sell you one for eight quid.

this guy did the cheapest rebel transport online, it was about £30 posted

http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/pooohbear121

and cheapest falcon i could find was here

http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/chaoscards-online

at £22 posted.

if you're not worries about being loyal to a local store then just get it online.

They dont seem to have much up at the mo but it varies. May have to wait til they relist or send em a note

I just ordered a Firespray through eBay last night

The price after shipping was only 4 bucks more if I had bought from my flgs.

Keep an eye out. There are some good sellers out their who don't try to price gouge

Or get a group together to place a sizeable order in a different country. Shipping should be reasonable then.

I bought my first YT at a Barnes and Noble last week. It was tucked behind some Shuttles and a Firespray. Sadly I'm in the US.

Hey Charlarino,

Like you I'm in the Uk, been into this game for about 3 weeks and the only ship I haven't and won't be able to lay my hands on is the Falcon. Forget ebay, there are stills shops with stock. In those 3 weeks I have sourced....

Boxed set and the following expansion sets

3 x wings, 2 defenders, 1 tie fighter, 1phantom, 1 interceptor, 1 imperial ace box, 1 y wing, 2 z95, 2 e wings. 1 TIE Bomber, 1 firespray , 1 TIE advanced. The numbers were only limited by what I was after at the time. I could quite easily have doubled numbers of each.

some shops for you.

Patriot games Sheffield, good stock levels, and it's live, but p+p is a bit high

Games without borders in Carlisle, don't know what stock they have in, but was chatting to the guy at the Border Reiver show on Saturday. Scored for a 3rd X wing expansion. You'll may have to mail him to find out what he has.

Hellfiregamingindustries.co.uk Haven't dealt with these but they have some bits and pieces in.

The list isn't exhaustive. Another suggestion, doing a search on Card games tends to throw up local FLGS that stock X wing.

Don't worry about not being able to get the Falcon: if you're new it's not the best ship to get. You've got to be pretty good to counter it well and if you're a new player it's an easy ship to get addicted to with that 360 arc.

Just a word of advice if you're buying from the US or anywhere else outside the EU, if the total value (not including shipping fees) is over £15 you will have to pay import duty. The duty itself isn't much (a few quid for 15) but Royal Mail slap on a big handling fee (nearly a tenner if I recall), so something worth £15 can end up costing nearly twice as much. Check a currency converter before you buy and allow a few $ margin of error in case the rate changes by the time it gets to customs.

Yes ships can be out of stock for a couple of months at a time. But they do always come back in larger numbers. You'll have opportunity to get everything you want but a little patience helps with FFG. But it's always worth the wait.

The best advice at this stage, is if something is available now, grab it. It's not likely to be around for long, and who knows how long before restock. It's a crying shame FFG are having such stock issues, but that's the popularity of it for you. Demand has outstripped supply.

I think the biggest issue is that this game is hugely more popular than they could ever imagine.

they were ill prepared for the demand, adding new factories finally to try and help with keeping up with demand.

I know it doesn't help you at all but I recently went to Orlando Florida for a funeral and while there went to 3 different game stores and Two Barnes & Nobel. The Barnes & Nobles had more stock at cheaper prices than the game stores. however there were also two "Cool stuff for games" stores that i did not get to visit and on line they have good prices.. i just thought it was cool that Orlando had so many game stores...Despite the bad circumstances for my visit, as i just wanted to take my mind off things... perhaps you could find somebody in the Orlando area to serve as your mule so to speak.... I don't think "Gifts" under a certain amount are subject to tax..
