To me Xwing is a great 'beer and pretzels' game. I play to make up star wars stories with the wife and friends.
Personally I could have just had all the OT ships and not been bored to date with the game, i dont need to spend money on a new release every month to keep me interested...
But it seems some people do.
To me a good game doesnt *need* constant new input. It's cool when it happens but you dont need it and sometimes (like with 40k) its counter productive when things become obsolete or reworked constantly.
I enjoy dozens of games that have not had a new release in a decade (battlefleet gothic, dungeonquest, necromunda, junta etc etc). To me having to have shiny new stuff to keep you interested seems a little superficial.
If its a case of wanting a changing meta game to one up people in tournaments.. well i understand that but surely thats where playing skill should come in. New tactics should be keeping stuff fresh not new cards?
Dont get me wrong, i do like seeing new ships, im not an OT purist, i own pretty much everything that is out in the UK at the mo but I'd still play if S&V was the last thing ever released.
So the question is... would you keep playing if S&V was the last thing to come out from FFG?
