Unusual, fun but attemptingly competitive lists! [Thread] read:Subforum

By Blail Blerg, in X-Wing

Since we don't have a subforum for these annoying posts, let's put the daily lists stuff here!

The idea is to share lists we think are a different way of combating the meta. They are different, fun and also moderately viable.

Different formats/home formats and lists are welcome. Little pieces of lists are also welcome!

Think about thoughts!

R2F2 Stealth combo:

My friend played this today against me. R2F2 and Stealth Device on Wedge. Wow! He dodged SO many shots. It was also very good against swarm type builds.

Wedge Antilles (29)
Swarm Tactics (2)
Garven Dreis (26)
Biggs Darklighter (25)
R2-F2 (3)
Stealth Device (3)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Total: 100
v1 utiliizes Biggs as long as possible. Garven passes F to Biggs for 4 green dice with F.
Good against swarm builds and many attacks.
Wedge Antilles (29)
Swarm Tactics (2)
R2-F2 (3)
Stealth Device (3)
Garven Dreis (26)
Tarn Mison (23)
R7 Astromech (2)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Total: 100
This version gives you much more maneuvering room. Really, the only component that is critical is Wedge + Stealth + R2F2. This packs offensive power and defensive power. Garven is also really good as a complement. The rest of the points are really arbitrary.

This is a HWK A A Z list. Its designed to not die versus Phantoms, and have a decent shot against most other lists. It might not do so well vs the Falcon, but I haven't actually tried that yet!
Props to Babaganoosh for the original seed idea!
Kyle Katarn (21)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Intelligence Agent (1)
Moldy Crow (3)
Tycho Celchu (26)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Proton Rockets (3)
Push the Limit (3)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
Green Squadron Pilot (19)
Outmaneuver (3)
Proton Rockets (3)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Total: 100
anti-Phantom: Tycho PS10, Intel Agent, and HWK ICT.
power: 2 proton rockets, Tycho unlimited PTL, and green with Outmaneuver. also a 4 ship build. Kyle can pass extra F for TL F Boost combos.

Here's a nasty little endgame power piece. The essential part is only Luke + Lone Wolf and R2D2 and this one secret: ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CARE ABOUT USING LONE WOLF IN THE EARLY AND MID GAME. Lone Wolf's power will go up as your ships die and within games you would otherwise lose. For two points you get to drastically get a power boost in games you would have lost! You can also try and use Luke as a flanker anyway.
34 points for the combo piece. rest 66 are gravy.
Again, not my original idea!
Luke Skywalker (28)
Lone Wolf (2)
R2-D2 (4)
Wedge Antilles (29)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Total: 100

So here's a question: How would you change the rest of these builds around the centerpiece to make it a list that is really good against things that the centerpiece would lose to?

1)

Biggs R2F2 Stealth

Garven R2D6 Veteran Instincts

Cracken

Blue Bwing

>> removed Wedge

>> fitted Cracken in, would easily give Biggs his double focus now for low cost

>> Garven VI for easier action transfer, but not necessary. Inclusive of Blue Bwing, 24 points total for tweaking. Possible considerations: (i) Roark + ion ; (ii) Green Awing PTL chardaan, Cluster on Cracken

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2) *that lone Z95 is a bit, umm......*
Wedge / PTL / R2F2 / Stealth
Luke / Wingman
Kyle / recon spec / Blaster / Veteran / crow
>> removed Garven for PTL
>> VI on Kyle for easier flying at 889
>> Blaster instead of Ion due to need for firepower
3) *your current configuration is food for phantoms, not to mention the subsequent TIE swarm afterwards*
*want to include Super Wedge or Roark. Both are proven phantom killers.*
*or rather, 4 proven ways to take care of phantoms, ranked in order of effectiveness. Higher PS > 4 or more atk dice TL +F > Turret Weapons > Ions*
*also, low ship count = possibility that the phantoms would not have a target to shoot at = phantoms cant recloak with ACD = very easy to nail their movement next turn*
*that PS10 tycho is interesting*
Wedge / PTL / Engine / R2 astromech
Tycho / Veteran / PTL / Awing test pilot / Chardaan
Luke / R2D2 / Lone Wolf
99 point for initiative bidding, Luke R2D2 is a tough opponent for standard TIE box, as proven since wave 1, and is also not bad against falcons due to his durability. Wedge + choice of initiative is a very powerful phantom hunter. Tycho is untested, and I'm not very comfortable putting proton rockets on it due to lack of field testing, and also you need to pull off a range 1 TL + F against a decloaking opponent, not easy even with a higher PS. Was considering Concussion Missiles but needed something to tackle the TIE box that phantoms usually deploy with.
4)
*Your Lone Wolf unit would die very very quickly and cannot contribute much to the battle if it cant use lone wolf. Speaking from field testing experiences, we already have wave 5 over here.*
*probably a better idea to simply keep squad numbers low if you want to use lone wolf*
Luke / R2D2 / Lone Wolf / Engine
Han / Gunner / Marksmanship / C3P0 / Assault Missile
> May consider swapping Assault Missile for Engine upgrade / MF title, depending on how you prefer to fly your falcon, but does not synergize with marksman gunner config.
> was considering R5P9 instead of R2D2 for more flexible maneuvering, depends on personal choice i suppose
Im not a super competetive player but im bumping this as i think subforums are needed and a 'lists' forum would be far more use than 'battle reports'
