What's your best thematic list?

By Rogue Dakotan, in X-Wing

Do you have a favorite team that's thematic? Can you come up with a good viable team that all fits into a theme?

I.E. Only rebels who were at Yavin, or only 181st squints, or royal guards and a shuttle, etc.

Phennir, Fel and two Sabers is fun and unpredictable, if a little squishy.

Wedge

Corran-ptl,FCS

Tycho-refit,ptl

4 points left to play with. Usually r2d2 wedge or Corran.

God I wish Tycho had an X-wing version. It's not as thematic in that dinky 2 red dice gnat.

Given everything that happened between these three it makes for some funny situations in actual play.

181th Squadron (100pts)

Soontir Fel + PtL

Turr Phennir + Veteran Instinct

Lieutenant Lorrir

Saber Squadron

Black squadron (100pts)

Darth Vader + Engine Upgrade + Outmaneuver

Mauler Mithel

Backstabber

Dark Curse

Black Squadron Pilot + Veteran Instinct

Royal Shuttle (99pts) (waiting for Fleet Officer)

Omicron Group Pilot + Advanced Sensor + Fleet Officer + Ion Cannon + Tactician

Carnor Jax + Push the Limit + Shield Upgrade + Hull Upgrade

Kir Kanos + Shield Upgrade + Hull Upgrade

It's 118 points, but it's a fun Battle of Endor list

Wedge Antilles (36)

X-Wing (29), R2 Astromech (1), Proton Torpedoes (4), Squad Leader (2)

Jake Farrell (28)
A-Wing (24), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Push the Limit (3), Outmaneuver (3)

Lando Calrissian (54)
YT-1300 (44), Outmaneuver (3), Nien Nunb (1), Gunner (5), Millennium Falcon (1)

181th Squadron (100pts)

Soontir Fel + PtL

Turr Phennir + Veteran Instinct

Lieutenant Lorrir

Saber Squadron

Black squadron (100pts)

Darth Vader + Engine Upgrade + Outmaneuver

Mauler Mithel

Backstabber

Dark Curse

Black Squadron Pilot + Veteran Instinct

Royal Shuttle (99pts) (waiting for Fleet Officer)

Omicron Group Pilot + Advanced Sensor + Fleet Officer + Ion Cannon + Tactician

Carnor Jax + Push the Limit + Shield Upgrade + Hull Upgrade

Kir Kanos + Shield Upgrade + Hull Upgrade

That Black Squadron list sounds really fun. I love flying named Ties.

The Royal Shuttle might take some skill but could be pretty cool too.

The Royal Shuttle might take some skill but could be pretty cool too.

I already used it in a tournament, with some change since I don't have Field Officer yet, and it did okay (2-1). The big weakness was, and still is, that the Shuttle is worth too much for the ease your enemy can have to destroy it. So, if you can't bring the hurt early, it can go south fast. In this build, the Shuttle is worth less and Field Officer will really help Kir Kanos shine, so I'll give it another try once I get my hand on the upgrade.

Wedge + EU + PtL

Corran + FCS

Tycho + Refit + PtL

Luke with R2-D2, Advanced Proton Torpedoes and Expert Handling
Wedge with Elusiveness and R2 Astromech
Dutch Vander with Ion Cannon Turret
(Note that I haven't tried this out yet because I don't have the right cards.)
The player is usually forced to choose one of the 3 pilots to attack and if they do, the other ones will attack that pilot. Its also hard to choose which one to take out.
If you don't attack dutch, he will ion you and make you susceptible to the other pilots attacks.
If you don't attack Wedge then his ability will be a threat.
If you don't attack Luke, then his advanced Proton Torpedoes will be a threat.
But if you attack one, the others will mess with you. Of course you need to be good at piloting so that you can make sure that you have everyone's back. Also the opponent will likely have more then one fighter. So if your opponent chooses to spread their units to each pilot, then they may have a better chance.

Canor Jax, Kir Kanos, & Captian Kagi carrying Darth Vader (Because they haven't made Emperor Palpatine yet.)

Gold Leader

Lando in YT-1300 with Millennium Falcon, Nien Numb, Gunner, Expert Handling

...and Lando's gunners at the Battle of Endor...

Airen Cracken with Wingman, Hull Upgrade

Lt Blount with VI and Assault Missiles.

It is supposed to represent Cracken and Blount manning the turrets of the Falcon.

First list I ever put together was a thematic list (still not played it yet though!)...

Boba Fett with Rebel Captive

Howlrunner

3 x Obsidian TIE's

I imagined Howlrunner and elements of Obsidian Squadron escorting Fett 'out of the system' with Han on board. No idea how it would play as it looks a little 'naked' compared to other peoples lists.

I played it once and it was really nice. I also gave Veteran Instinct to Boba with the point left. I started to flew Boba with the group and got behind them after turning. After the first round of engagement that went up closer than I thought, I realised that he was in the perfect position to block the possible k-turn from my opponent. So, after being able to k-turn myself with 2 Tie, I slowly moved forward with him and got the enemy in a pincer position. The rest went downhill for my opponent.

Good ol' Super-Friends is a favorite of mine:

Luke, Wedge, and Biggs. Season to taste.

I love to play blue flights from the battle of Endor. It's basically 3 B's and an A. Ten numb, keyan farlander and Ibitsam were confirmed to be there, so lots of flavorful options. Though for tournaments I usually go for generics and a second A.

My Red Flight list:

Wedge - 29

Tycho + PTL - 29

Wes - 29

Tala Squadron Pilot (standin for Hobbie because I don't have the points) - 13

My Battle of Brentaal list:

Wedge + Squad Leader + R5-P9 - 34

Horton Salm + Ion Cannon Turret + R2 + 2 Flechette Torpedos - 35

Ibtisam + Ion Cannon - 31

I do a variation of the Rogue Trio - Wedge, Corran, and Tycho, but I'm not convinced that trios are completely great unless they hit really, really hard. So I devised the Red Flight quartet to work on that.
