Do you say "2-turn" or "hard 2"...

By Explosive Ewok, in X-Wing

I've seen this a lot. Someone saying "hard 2" or "soft 2".

Personally I refer to them as banks and turns. I say "2-turn" or "2-bank".

So how do you refer to a specific maneuver template?

"Sexy."

I say a Hard and a Bank.

I'll be in my bunk...

I use to say hard 2, now I say turn.

I still say bank though

I say a Hard and a Bank.

I'll be in my bunk...

Interesting, I don't think I've heard the two mixed before.

According to page 6 of the rulebook everybody is supposed to say straight, bank, turn and koiogran turn.

I try and use the technical, correct terminology, but do occasionally fall back to "hard #" just because so many people don't seem to realize that there IS a correct terminology,

I normally use hard # (turn), easy/gentle # (bank), straight #, and #-K (or just "K-turn" if it's a ship with only one speed). I probably should start trying to use the correct terms.

Yeah I use "Hard" and "Gentle", although I perfectly understand the other terminology. It's usually just a case of what you're used to (in the same way that if I push a joystick controller forward I want to look down because I learnt to play flight simulators before I learnt to play first person shooters).

Always bank, turn/hard split.

I like it hard.

"hard #" vs "soft #" for me, usually.

Less plosive consonants, I suppose?

Lazy and hard here...

That's it! I never realized that before! My little brother always harassed me for using inverted on Halo . . .

I generally use the same terms as the OP, though I also hear what he hears. I imagine that I might also pick up the terms from my opponents at times.

Another thing I say, when my pilot is stressed and I'm doing a green maneuver, is that my pilot is "turning on the Barry Manilow and taking it easy."

Both

What I really hate is when people say "Hard bank"
Yeah, that's totally a thing around here.

I turn and bank.

But I don't k-turn. I u-turn.

Turn/bank

My group says "gentle" and "hard". Just felt more intuitive.

To be fair, that's actually correct terminology for aircraft since it is banking.

Supposed to be turn and bank but I too go with hard # and soft #.

Banks and turns are the correct term for aircraft maneuvers.

I refer to k-turns as "3k", "4k" and "5k".

"Hard-Turn 2"

we use hard and soft....often with a giggle

and Ks for K turns
