Oh I'm sorry, I derped hard on that one: It's a +20 inquiry test which is based on Fellowship, not just a raw Fel test.
Play by post?
Oh. And I take it that I can't try to Charm the information out of them instead? If not, my character will attempt an Inquiry test (unknown skill). I rolled 57 on a Fel of 42.
Edited by KylieThe book says Inquiry, so I'm just going with that. Fel of 42 - 20 for untrained + 20 from Inquiry test + 4 from FB = Target number of 46. Unfortunately, that is a failure. The man is not sure what to tell you.

Caradoc laughs, "Straight to business eh? Actually, the object of our interest is your neighbor. While I myself am not initiated, I imagine that the Omnissiah's servants in our midst can hear the machine spirits of his manse crying from even this distance. Your property, on the other hand, seems very well kept. If I may ask, are you expecting anyone from the manufactoriums?"
"As an aside," Caradoc grins as he gestures to the barbecue, "what IS that delicious cuisine? Now, I have sampled many things in my travels, but none as unique as what you have before me."
Caradoc continues his gregarious display with the noble, slowly attempting to wheedle out information with flattery and a smile.

I'll spend a Fate point to re-roll the test then. A natural roll of 1... well that went better. 4 DoS?
Also, do I have to make a Deceive test over the group's purpose?
I'd like to roll an Awareness roll since this is spotting something hidden/not easy to notice? Let me know if I'm interpreting the difference between Scrutiny and Awareness incorrectly. Also to know of any outstanding modifiers.
Firstly, I acknowledge my noob status and that I have no right to comment on a rules query. My interpretation was that Awareness was tested passively, often by the GM, when something might be noticed (like an impending ambush), but Scrutiny was tested actively when the PC wants to find something out directly (examining an object that may indicate an ambush). Or I could easily have no idea at all.
Edited by KylieMhos nods his head and walks away from the group. Mechanicus members always seem to put those not initiated in the faith in a stange mood. He thought he was doing what was asked of him. Investigating the artifact was a priority, mentioning it near the nobles was an intelligent way of gauging their reaction to the recent news of deaths associated with strange objects wasn't it?
To be truthfully honest he may have had a spark of curiosity towards the object itself. When he was initiated into the faith it was deemed he was not apt towards knowing about machines. He knew as much as any initiate priest, but sometimes when he couldn't block the thought. He wondered what more there was to know.
He examined the barbeque's spirit none the less, and enjoyed watching the way it aggressively charred the organic's food into an edible manner. The placement of the meat on the grill's surface wasn't maximal, but he was told not to correct the noble's use of technology, and so he did not.
He then thought of something. He scanned each person individually. The object, at least what he was told of it, gave off an infrared signal. He looked at all the people present at the party for any odd signature.

Scab, though evidently coveting that delicious food, more so than the gentry at the small party, Still, he hovers in the back a bit, remaining a tad out of sight like a good servant would, and, rather politely, returns the looks of any who might overtly notice him with a simple smile and nod. Once the initial bout of attention fades, however, he'd chance a quick glance about, for active psychic signals, specifically, if he could even divine such, telepathic ones, such as the device gave off.

Not sure if that is still covered under psyniscience. DM call, I suppose
I keep close to my nobles, watching the enviroment for signs of threats. If I am spoken to or offered anything, I reply in a polite manner and accept.
I would like to make an scrutiny test to see, if I can get any more details or information about Lans' manse or if we are maybe watched. If that seems to be pointless I will try to support the inquiries of my fellow acolytes.
ThenDoctor: Make your awareness test at 0 (don't forget any modifiers you might have from yourself).
DeathByGrotz: Sure, go ahead at a 0 Psyniscience.
Ripplo: You can make your test at +10
Kylie: The nobles tell you that Lans Guljian has rarely been seen outside of his manor. he has refused visits from friends and family and important business associates. The Guljian family has grown concerned about Lans's expenditures: Great sums of his wealth have been diverted to unknown purposes. Lans has been sighted descinding into the main areas of the hive, something the nobility usually avoid unless they have unavoidable or pressing business reasons. When Lans has been seen in public, his appearance has been dishevelled and unkempt, with an air of urgency and irritation.
((Alright, Mechandrite gives +10 for Per based tests. I actually have the skill so just base +10. Rolled 80...ugh, 3 DoF))
Mhos examines the groupings as best he can, but he feels the heat radiating off of the grill, the plates, and food are interfering with any real useful examinations. Silently he redirects the mechandrite to scan what he can across the fence for the 40 meter range it has.
((Not testing anything just looking across the grounds to see the general state of them.))
=
Which should be 2 degrees of success! ))
Rolled: 90 yeay...looks like I see many things...but none important. 5 DoF.
After thanking the noble for his time, Caradoc pulls Ferro aside and gestures for the other Acolytes to join them, "According the good fellow with whom I have just spoken, Lans has been refusing all contact with those close to him; I doubt that we will be able acquire and audience with him willingly."
"Furthermore," Caradoc continues, eager to provide the fruits of his efforts, "Lans has been spotted making excursions downhive. Would you suggest that we tail him?"
With periodic glances to the psyker and the servants of the Omnissiah, Caradoc says, "The kind noble also mentioned that Lans has been wantonly and surreptitiously spending money. Would any of you have the skills or means to investigate these funds?"

I'm still here.

"Are we finished here? If Lans leaves the house we could follow him." I say in a low voice. "We should linger on a bit more to rise no suspicion."

Don't let the game fall asleep yet!
...or is it already too late? Oo
Edited by Ripplo((assuming the GM got a bit busy or some such. Still interested, whenever he wants to pick it back up, though. It's been fun so far ))
I agree. Did anyone PM him?
((His profile says he was last on the 26th.))
Been waiting for you guys to figure what you want to do next.
I think we were going to try to tail Lans on one of his trips.
Mhos approached the group.
"Quietly," he whispered, "I believe our target has left his residence. Enquiringly perhaps we might follow him to see him commit incriminating acts?"
((Excuse me if that's too forward but I figured I'd kick it off.))
((was waiting on the result of my Psyniscience before acting!)
No psychic signals were detected in the area, but numerous seem to emanate from the manor of Lans.
Lans is indeed walking, along with a body guard, down the street and away from his manor. There are numerous autocarriages (cars) driving the streets here and the occasional other pedestrian on the sidewalks. Anyone who wishes to follow him will need to roll Stealth and make 2 or more degrees of success to surpass the one success that Lans Guljian got.
After discretely attempting to help himself to a niblet or two, Scab casts a last worried glance at the manor of their target. With his comfort food in mouth, he shambles over to the others and grumbles: "That place is, hemhem, tainted by witchcraft. I can see it from, h-here. And I am not, well, very skilled at, mmm, following quietly. I can try, though?"
"Factly, a member of the Mechanicus is hardly inconspicuous in public. Offeringly, perhaps I and the small one might inspect the manor while you investigate the man?"
Mhos was eager to investigate the obvious heresies that likely lied within the manor, and to placate the failing glo globe.
"While I have a basic proficiency in the art of subtlety, tailing Lans looks like it will be more difficult than I anticipated." Caradoc furrows his brow.
"Shall I attempt to follow our quarry regardless?"
Caradoc worriedly examines the bodyguard. Should stealth fail him, this could be very dangerous. His hand unconsciously brushes the the backstrap of his autopistol.
-----
Caradoc has stealth as a known skill, but he is very unlikely to surpass Lans' success on this test.
Edited by Kylie"I dislike the sneaky way." I look to the two suspects and would like to check out their equipment ( Could you describe them?)
"I am also not dressed to shadow anyone today" Hinting on my arbites' armor. "Besides we have no means of long range communication , if I am correct. Which means, we could not assist each other..."
"We should enter his estate and gather evidence. If we find some, we can ambush him at his home and interrogate him."
I try to analyze a good entry point, if possible hidden from curious eyes. "Look for traps and alarm systems."

I have only a 10 percent chance to succeed, although I have the skill.
