Turret Upgrade Card Idea.

Okay just an idea for an upgrade card for turrets since it is the one upgrade slot that there is only 2 options for. (fitting because only 2 ships can take it.)

Heavy Ion Cannon Turret.

Firepower 2

Range 1-3

Attack: Attack 1 ship (even outside your firing arc.)

Before Applying damage change all critical hits to hits. For each uncanceled hit the defender receives 1 Ion Token in addition to normal damage.

Turret Point cost 7

Okay another way to add those infamous Ion Tokens. Also another 360 weapon. Although with this weapon it is harder to hit as it only has 2 attack, For the extra points from regular Ion turrets there is a longer range and potentially the ability to do 2 damage and give 2 Ion tokens but as you see it is easier to evade.

Now all we need is a way to give Imperial ships a turret. How about an upgrade for the shuttle to use turret weapons in an auxiliary firing arc?

Y-wings and HWKs were the idea as they are the only ships with the turrets upgrade option. The question is choosing this over a regular Ion Turret. This cost a hefty 7 points for the extended range however is easier to dodge with only 2 attack dice where as the regular Ion turret rolls 3 attack dice. If you get only 1 hit with the Heavy Ion Turret it is the same result as getting a hit with a regular Ion Turret. So those extra 3 points are for the added range and the slim chance of doing 2 damage and ion tokens to a big ship. Allot of points for a secondary weapon with only 2 firepower.
