Is there a place for a quad bomber list between all the whispers and fat falcons?

Quad is hard to pull off, but I think three Bombers and an escort fighter are actually a really nice list against Fat Falcons. Cluster Missiles with Jonus' reroll are not a nice prospect for a fat Falcon.
The difficulty is bombers versus phantoms. I think they get slaughtered there, and I'm a big fan of bombers.

Im still convinced 5 x Gammas + Seismic Charges can compete in this meta.
Also the variation of 3 x Gamma + Seismic and 1BH + Seismic + Gunner (or Rebel Captive + flechette or something like that).

This don't involve Jonus or any of the 4 forward-firing ordnance slots a bomber has to offer...

Seismic Charges are basically useless against a Phantom. You have to drop them before the Phantom activates, and even if you manage to catch them off guard the best you're going to do is force them to abort for a turn as they decloak away from wherever you dropped the bombs, or zoom through them. You're going to spend 15 points to blow up empty space.
Modern air-to-air missiles have ranges roughly on par with two X-Wing ships shooting at each other across a grocery store. Would not scale well.
I am trying to develop a list with a bomber wing supported by a flanker. So far this is what I have come up with:
Vader with Stealth Device and Expose
Jonus
Scimitar Squad with Assault Missiles
Scimitar Squad with Assault Missiles
I have not used this yet, but I plan to soon.
Bomber squads are great in Epic Play. They can take huge ships down with ease when using ordinance.
I also like the Jonus Bombers, but yes, they're hard to play against Phantoms. They certainly seem very much out of favor in MajorJuggler's current data. Seismics are also fun, but also not particularly useful against that Phantom Menace.
I don't want to complain about the Phantom (too much), but they've really done a number on the meta.
Also, UniJustin really gave me a beating the other day as I was flying Bombers, and he flew his virgin flight with a brand new Dash Rendar. My next match - same bombers, flying against a two Phantom list. Ugh... it wasn't my night.
A bomber swarm won my local regional qualifier, think they ran howl too.
It is quite unfortunate that bomber are just to Slow, (I mean PS). The highest PS bomber is Major Rhymer, and he is just to expensive. I only hope that FFG will add more bomber pilots and Modified Bombers. I would love to see a PS6 bomber with an pilot elite upgrade. Bombers are the reason I play the game. But I feel that that is not going to happen.
I would try a few bombers with high PS Tie's with Swarm Tactics. And a really super charged Flanker.

You could try this:
1 Jonus
2 scimitars with 1x cluster and 1x concussion missiles
1 Soontir Fel with Push the Limit
Soontir would be your flanker.

Jonus is one of the greatest Named Pilots in the game, IMO. That’s one bomber pilot with an pilot elite upgrade. (Only four pilots cards for a Galactic Empire?) The bomber pilot Rhymer is just too expressive for a 100-point game. (He is great in an epic game though!)
I’m a great enthusiast for the bomber because of it versatility. Bombs are fun but challenging to work. I like that challenge! And you can’t one shot a bomber. But the newer ships are making it very hard for a bomber list to be effective because of the low PS of most of the bomber.
not just that but jonus is 2 points more expensive and it then becomes hard to squeeze 2 more bombers and a high PS unit for anti-Phantom.
Decimator is going to be far too expensive for a turret option. (unlike adding a single Y or HWK)
Jonus and two Scimitars escorted by two Obsidian Ties is my favourite Imperial force. I think that Bombers have what it takes, still pretty new to the game though.
If you can't beat them, join them.

Watch what happens to a phantom when it catches a proton bomb. Stress it out with flechete torpedoes to keep it from dancing.
This is overdoing it on the ordinance so feel free to mix 'n match, but I think the new torpedoes are a nice addition:

That's why I said I was overdoing it on the ordinance.
I do think that the huge ships could've brought some ordinance with longer ranges.

Edited by DagonetFrom my experience 2 torps/missiles are the best choice but you really need to get 1 off in the alpha, the other torp/missile is for the furball. Bombs may be good but I somehow suck in using bombs with Tie Bombers. And you want 2-3 Assault Missiles for the alpha strike. You need something your bombers excells in - this would be a splash alpha. But Biggs prevented this in the past ... seems like Biggs isn't around so often anymore .. but high PS values are still a problem. Deadeye would help.

When running Jonus, I rarely/never give him ordnance, putting it all on two flight-mates instead. That way the ordnance gets the Jonus reroll, which it doesn't get if it's on Jonus. Typically, I have two pieces of ordnance on them, along with a bomb. I sometimes wonder if I'm packing too much heat with all that, and that's less than what you're carrying - but it IS nice to have a full set of golf clubs to choose from when you're lining up your shots.
Your list here has the Decimator goodies. Do you have those in hand already, or are you building this squad anticipating your ship coming in?
