I cannot beat the rebels!

If you're jousting with imps, you're doing it wrong. You gotta outfly him, as that's their main strategy. You also must shoot down the Falcon first, because of its turret. That thing completely shuts down your maneuverability

Wait...Millenium Falcon has a turret slot?

No it does not. It has a normal 80° firing arc.

The primary weapon may shoot inside or outside the firing arc.

Go pro; 4 shuttles, 40 hp. Total win dude.

As mentioned, I do not have defenders, bombers, shuttle. But I should be able to get it done with the ties, interceptors, firespray. I will definitely use some of the advice in the thread!

We have not begun to use asteroids, just a blank playmat. I hit the falcon hard on my first pass last night, but then when I tried to turn my ships for another pass, I got spread out and seemed to be "jousting" like one poster said not to do.

Use asteroids! They have a massive effect on the maneuvering aspect of the game, and essentially all scenarios and tournaments use them!

On a blank mat it is very hard to avoid jousting, as your koiogran turns will almost never be blocked and there are very few incentives to fly anywhere other than directly at the enemy. Asteroids will make Imperial maneuverability matter a lot more, as their ships can generally navigate the asteroid field much more easily. Ships won't always be able to K-turn ("jousting" is essentially alternating K-turns with green straight maneuvers against an enemy who does the same) and you can use Academy Pilots to block him on asteroids.

Seriously, use asteroids. You'll probably bounce your ships off rocks more than a few times (most of us still do), but you'll actually be dogfighting. I can see why you weren't (only a half-dozen games, still getting a hang of the rules) but add them as soon as possible and you probably won't ever play a game without them again.
