What type of expansion would you like to see for X-Wing?
I may be in the minority, but I was really looking forward to the Galaxy Tiles. I'm sad to see them go.
Then I was in the minority too...I had planned on buying those
Your variant idea is bad. It's not smart for FFG at all, it's only benefit is to dilute the game. It doesn't add to competitive play, it only creates a mishmash of poor options instead of leaving the current balance and synergy in place.
I get that you like your idea. I really do, but it doesn't make sense to keep bashing on about it. I haven't seen anyone else suggest that they like it as well. I have seen a lot of very experienced players tell you that it's a really bad idea though.
I would like to see longevity. I don't care what they release as long as this game lasts a long time. I would also like less expensive ways to bring new life into older, less used elements of the game. For instance, I don't want to spend $15-45 to get 1-3 copies of an expansion knowing that I'll never use the models or even %90 of the cards, just so I can get and use one card. A perfect example of this is C3PO. I'll probably get a CR90, but I know I will rarely (perhaps never) use the ship as I could, but I want to get it because of 3PO. That's not cool, but it's an obviously strong card on all Large Base Rebel ships.

Double post, apologies.

Edited by jkokuraNo new ships for me, I am good. A fix for the broken ordnance would be fine, but I am not sure it can be done, as ordnance was not used in the movies to go after fighters. Anybody else feeling that the x-wing is getting a bit left behind in the power creep?
......
A 10 dice expansion
I want a YT-2000 that can be used for both Rebels and Scum with Ace Azameen as its Rebel pilot and Anton Azameen as its scum pilot.
Yeah I would super-squee if this was released. And it would be nice to get more freighters into the game. They are great fighting objectives to facilitate narrative.
I actually like the idea I don't think it's so different from the current expansion model. As long as ffg keeps up their usual play test standards I could see this going as well as the aces packs.
Hi there! And how are you?
All this just for little old me, Thanks, I didn’t think anyone cared.
It’s not that I am ignoring what you say, it just don’t read what you posts. :-) Actually I am ignoring what you say. All your long winded rant is meaningless unless you have facts to back it up. If you don’t have any facts, than you are full of brachiosaurus poop! (Note: that is one of the largest animals on the planet, and it leaves really big piles of poop!) So where are your facts. First, did you design the game? (And I really don’t believe you have.) Than anything that you say is groundless, does hold water, doesn’t have facts to back it up. (Refer to the above poop reference!) You say my idea is bad, where are your facts. I want facts not your opinion, because everyone knows how valuable an opinion is worth. Did you put my idea to the test? I think not! Well I have, and every thing that you say is false, it is wrong. And I can prove it!
Here is a challenge for anyone has the guts to take the challenge! Find out for yourself if I’m right or wrong. Don’t listen to these nay sayers. Take a ship or two, if it has 3 or less upgrades on the bottom of the card, change one of the upgrades out for a different upgrade. If that ship has 4 or more upgrades on the bottom than change out two upgrades. If a ship does have any upgrade, add one or give it an extra modification. For this exercise, if you add an upgrade or any extra modification to a ship add two points to the value of the ship plus the points for the upgrade or modification cards. This is just a test to prove the concept
.
Play test it! And decide for your self!
Go ahead, Prove me wrong! Come on! Either put up or I will chastise you a second time!
Never! Ever! Let some one think for you! Never!

I'm just curious, here, but on this planet we don't usually discuss brachiosaurs--or really any non-avian dinosaur--in the present tense. So from where are you posting?

What you appear to be saying here is that any criticism of your ideas is unwarranted except by the game's designers. Is that a fair characterization of your point?

Okay, here's where your idea falls apart:
- Not all upgrade slots--and, just as critically, not all combinations of upgrade slots--are of equivalent power.
- In a game that is as heavy on theme as this one, that not all upgrade slots make equal amounts of thematic sense--for example, is there such a thing in canon as a TIE Fighter equipped with ion cannons, or with a torpedo launcher?
- There are design considerations you're completely ignoring. What would it do to the game to make five Tala Squadron Pilots with Heavy Laser Cannons a legal tournament list? Does Soontir Fel become overpowered when he gains access to Advanced Sensors? How good is a Blue Squadron Pilot when it can completely cover the defects in its dial with an R2 Astromech? It's pretty easy to break a game when you start just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks, which is more or less what you're advocating here.
I'm not ignoring anything. I'm saying try it. You keep give your opinion but you never tested the idea. I have total faith that if FFG incorporated my idea, they would be more than capable of making the game balanced. It's a game about a fictitious universe after all, and there is much in the background you would never see. It's up to FFG to Choose what would fit and what doesn't. But Have you test the Idea your self. You make it out to be this over whelming up grade to can't lose. This is not the case. Try it your self and than tell me what you think. What do you have to lose?
I see you may be capable of modifying it though. So you want to narrow this to just the bomber and Y wing now? From what I could surmise from the quote below you seem to be mainly interested in "fixing" the bomber? Because it is your favorite ship? If they dont institute your idea you will take your ball and go home? Kinda childish ne? But I can understand the frustration...Im not thrilled with the Defenders dial (still learning how to use it properly).
th Faction, I'm not going to buy it!
3rd Faction or Wave 6, I'm not going to buy that either!
Wave 5, I bought a defender, and that's all I will buy.
I want my money back for the Tie Advance, and the Y-Wing. Waste of money.
I will buy only those up grades for a Tie Fighter, Tie Advanced, Tie Interceptor, and Tie Bomber. I want more Tie Bombers pilots. Since none of that is not going to happen. I see that I most like will not be playing this game much longer.
Actually you couldn’t be further from the truth.
1) I only pay Imperials,
2) The game is increasingly become the Expanded Universe, which I never got into,
3) And the most important reason of them all. I will not play a game where you are force to buy the latest and greatest to stay competitive. Nor do I want to invest in a game that is a constant drain of funds.
I thought I posted this here but I guess not...
1. A way to absorb the scum and villainy ships and upgrades into the other factions. I don't want to be constantly switching factions when I play. I'd like my opponent and myself to keep the same factions we've invested in but still take advantage of the new ships.
2. New dice without blank faces. Blanks are boring and they do little for the game.
3. New dice, but for a different reason. Here I'd just like some nicer looking quality dice.
4. An upgraded y-wing. S&V doesn't count, Rebels can't use the new pilots and probably can't use at least some of the included upgrades.
5. More pilots for the OT ships.
6. An imperial huge ship.
7. Plastic binder inserts for mini cards. the 3x3 standard pages work, but it's a little bit inconvenient to get the cards in and out.
That's it really.
I think this game needs more twi`lek dancers.
1. Imperial gozanti cruiser with Regular TIE fighter.
2. Suborbital craft - bespin cloud cars, snow speeders, etc.
3. An in scale ground forces expansion.
4. Chiss nsis class clawcraft.
5. R-41 starchaser (with r-42 crew upgrade card)
6. Imperial Aces II: TIE advanced and TIE Bomber.
7. Boarding action rules. If this comes with a sentinel landing craft, so be it.
8. If not a gozanti, which is perfect for it, at least one epic imperial ship.
9. Rebel aces II: y-wing and x-wing (with a blue or green paint scheme)
10. Imperial xg-1 and missile boat. Skipray blastboat, TIE scout (an imperial equivalent of the hwk-290)
One more thing I'd love - a Wraith Squadron pack. Either using X-Wings, or perhaps a combo of the Lamda (with Tycho pilot) and some various combo of the rebel ship options.
Having Wraiths fly Interceptors would be a lot of fun, and true to the EU, but I don't think I want to see that.
Also, an ewok alternate of Wedge would be pretty fun.
Jacob
1. More than ANYTHING, a ground forces game. 1/270 would continue to work, too. GHQ Microarmour is 1/285, so compare those tanks to something fractionally bigger.
Still, I'd actually prefer a game in 1/144. With that you can actually make troop figures. The Big Dog is obviously the AT-AT, and F-Toys' offering shows that it's perfectly doable.
2. Other than that, just new releases:
Howlrunner, V-Wing, IPV-1 patrol vessel & Skipray top my list.
Edited by IG-58I like the concept of variant upgrades. They could sell just some cards and tolkens for much less and have old favorites more competitive.

That's what I saying! Thank You!
How about a battle for Yavin mission pack. With tiles for trench and exhaust port that can be reversed for Landing strips and Yavin Masari bases. Have a Rebel Y-wing with a few new unique rebel pilots and an Imperial Tie Fighter with a few new unique Tie Fighter pilots. Also a couple of Turbolaser tower models would help. Then missions for the death star attack run as well as an evacuation of Yavin base scenario. (Sort of like Vader's Revenge mission from Rouge Leader on Game Cube).
Are there any named tie pilots left?
I wouldn't mind a battle of yavin pack, an official deathstar map to go with it would be cool one that won't give you seizures.
My idea for an expansion isn't just an X-Wing expansion. In addition to XWM, there will soon be Armada and Imperial Assaul. I am picturing an overarching campaign system that incorporates all games:
Space -> Planet : Armada
Low Orbit -> Atmosphere: X-Wing Miniatures
Ground Combat -> New game!
Commando side mission -> Imperial Assault Skirmish
The new game would use BattleLore 2ed. game engine, but with character-driven activation like Battles for Westeros. Air support and artillery style combat has been done in the same/similar engine before in Memoir 44, so I think it could work.
This way people can play through an entire planetary invasion.
Vigilante pack:
1 X-wing in Corsec Green
2 Besping Cloud Cars (including a crew slot)
Upgrade cards:
2x R2 astromech (for those who have only one Y-Wing)
Corran Horn's astromech Whistler
Crewmember cards such as flight instructor, gunner, mercenary copilot and weapons engineer (it is an Ugnaught after all)
The Cloud car is atmospheric, but it is iconic...
Edited by CununculusWell I said this before in the same thread. Oops I didn't see my post earlier. How did I do that. ![]()
Well here are some modifications to my previous post.
Battle for Yavin Expansion pack(s).
Includes Tiles for the Deathstar trench run which can be flipped for Massassi Base and Rebel Landing Strip. As well as Scenarios for both Attack Run and a similar scenario for a mission on Rouge Leader called Vader's Revenge in which the Empire attacks an evacuating Massassi Rebel Base.
As for models how about 1 Y-wing and 1 Tie Fighter with 2 new unique pilot cards and a Turbolaser Tower model (or two)
Or you could make 2 separate packs each with a single Turbolaser Turret model one with a Y-wing and a Tie Fighter (with 2 new Unique pilots for both of them) and the other with again a single Turbolaser Tower an X-wing and a Tie Advanced (with 2 new Unique pilots for both of them) maybe some new upgrades and title cards such as Tie Advanced 1x may reroll one blank dice when attacking and Red 5 when attacking with a torpedo weapon may reroll your blank results. Heck Gold Leader could be a good title for the Y-wing pack think of it like Swarm Tactics or Squadron Leader for all Y-wings.
now that I ninja's myself ![]()
Standard Game:
- TIE Avenger
- XG-1 Assault Gunboat
- Azzameen Family with YT-2000
- Jumpmaster 5000/"Punishing One"
- Preybird Starfighter
- Cloakshape Starfighter
- Skipray Blastboat
Epic Game:
- BBF-1 Bulk Freighter with Class A Cargo Containers
- Mobquet Transport
- Action VI Transport
- Nebulon B Frigate
I'd like to see the Gozanti as well, but it occupies an odd space with the Imperial version's external TIE rack. Either it doesn't carry the TIES and is produced at Epic scale, or it carries the TIES and is produced (like Mel's version) at 1/270.
