I think you should go with "A Parliament of Owls." With three ships it's more like a scuffle than a murder. Besides, you stole my name for my interceptor list.
Perhaps Attempted Murder of Crows might be more fitting.

As long as you roll even one single evade result (which is likely Rolling 3 defense dice counting stealth) in your whole defence roll, the stealth device has already been a total success. That single evade result IS the stealth device...Or either of the HWK's two natural dice. The bonus Stealth Dice could be either of those two blanks. If you want to see what that stealth dice is doing, roll it separately.
That's not possible because Stealth Device ups your agility value. As long as the HWK has SD equipped, its agility value is 3... Not 2+1.
So, as long as 1 evade result is present in those 3 dice, it is Stealth device which made it possible... Since it changed the probability outcomes of your defence roll from the start.
Saying: 'This one is the die from Stealth Device' is only mind-cheating yourself into false result readings.
Okay, back. I agree, it's not 2+1, but it sure ain't 3 either. It's 1+1+1.
Each dice is an independent random number generator. If we roll two dice there are four combinations of results possible, not three, because there are two arrangements that give an evade and an effective blank. (Treat evades as 1 and blanks as 0). It isn't two indistinct dice, it's one dice and another dice that are statistically independent of one another.
Focus results we'll treat as blank. The numbers in brackets are the probabilities of these results, treating the chance of an evade as 3/8 and rounding to 3 significant figures.
00 (0.391)
01 (0.234)
10 (0.234)
00 (0.141)
If you add a third die with Stealth Device, you jump to eight possible arrangements.
000 (0.244)
001 (0.146)
010 (0.146)
011 (0.088)
100 (0.146)
101 (0.088)
110 (0.088)
111 (0.053)
We can prove this by calculating the probabilities of each result and adding them up: if we have all the arrangements they'll equal 1.
The Stealth Dice we've added is the third column. It's an individual die, and in half the arrangements it rolls a blank. There are three different arrangements where you roll one evade and in only one of them is that the third die rolling the evade.
What you're probably jumping to in your defence now though is that the probabilities don't match up with the first set. They've gone down. The chance of the the arrangements in which the Stealth Device rolls a blank is lower than the chance of those arrangements if you don't roll a Stealth Device. How much?
Let's add them up.
0.244 + 0.146 + 0.146 + 0.088 = 0.624. Those numbers are rounded so there's a little variance, but had we not rounded that number would be 0.625, also known as 5/8.
Eight sides of an evade dice, five blank and focus results on an evade dice.
5/8 is the probability of one unmodified evade dice missing.
Without modifiers, Stealth Device increases the probability of getting another evade result by exactly 3/8. If you roll the Stealth Die separately as I said, it has a 3/8 chance of rolling an evade: you can see if the Stealth Device 3/8 gamble upped your results or if, had you not had Stealth Device, you'd have rolled that anyway. Call it a mind trick if you will but it works mathematically.
That's the gamble of Stealth Device versus Hull Upgrade. Hull Upgrade has a 100% chance of blocking one hit, Stealth Device has a 3/8 chance (or 5/8 with focus) but has a chance of doing it again if no damage got through. It's a gambling version of Hull Upgrade.
What you've said is that if you roll three dice, if you get even a single evade that's because of the Stealth Device. That's completely and utterly false. Why? Because it asserts that if you didn't have Stealth Device's extra die you'd have rolled blanks. This is not true: it's completely possible to roll one evade with two evade dice, it's just more likely if you roll three.
Compare rolling with the Stealth Device to rolling without it. With the Stealth Device (and three dice) you have a 0.756 probability of rolling an evade result and without it (two dice) you've got a 0.609 probability of a single evade. If you were forced to discard your Stealth Device before rolling your evades you've still got a pretty good chance of not rolling all blanks.
The Stealth Device has a 3/8 chance of adding an extra evade result to your roll. 5/8 of the time it will do nothing.
Weave through the missiles. ^^
... (Crosses fingers for an ace combat fan) "oh just weave through the missiles. What are you, nuts?!"
Quit mouthing off Chopper.
I wish I'd never taken the Stealth Device suggestion just so I wouldn't have to hear about it.

There there. Some wounds take time to heal. ^^
He said something factually incorrect. MUST.. CORRECT...
However, worry not, I will not force you to hear any more about Stealth Devices. I will, however, bring up Blaster Turret Kyle's dire need of a source of more focus tokens. If he is to go without Recon Specialist then it should be him that has the Ion Cannon Turret.

Absolutely no stealth devices.
Well at least not on 2 and 1 or 0 agility ships haha
Finally someone has used maths to prove me right, now we can close this thread and move on with our lives.
Let's never mention SD`s on low agility ships again.
Please.

Totally forgot about Sab eating actions. That's another thing sucking your Focus Token pool dry by competing for your action.
Okay fine, this thread is now repurposed to bashing lackwit.
It's what the people want it seems.
FFS
no stealth devices
Dear FFG.
Give me a cannon and/or missile mod. Then RecSpec and Stealth won't matter.
On a HWK?
What we need is the new turret in Scum, which hopefully won't be the 7 point turret and crew slot eating 3 dice weapon Blaster Turret is.
Edited by LagomorphiaHey. Looks like a fun list. But I'd drop the stealth devices!

We are not mentioning the SD or how silly it is to have them on low agility ships.
It wasn't my idea.
And the moral of the story ... post your own ideas. ![]()
