Wave 5 Legality

By hecabomb, in X-Wing

Hi guys. We're running a Nationals at the end of September.

Would Wave 5 legal or otherwise?

Thanks for the insights.

Generally at tournaments a wave isn't legal until it's officially released.

But I do not know.

Ships are only legal in tournament play after release. Wave 5 has only been pre-released.

And if you are in Germany, it takes like 1-2 weeks after released right ?

Wave five is October. Rebel Aces 15th september if i am not mistaken, so no it wouldn't be legal.

I've just sent an email to FFG for clarification, now waiting for their response

Out of curiosity, which Nationals?

Malaysia, lovely and sunny all around the year.

Great food great company.

I love Malaysia. I spent a LOT of time in Singapore during my time in the US Navy. Love that city. It's one of my top two places I'd want to live if I wasn't living in the US (Australia would be the other top two).

And as a 'foodie' you ain't kidding about the food. YUM! :)

Yeah, as others said, I'm pretty sure a model isn't tournament legal until it's been officially released.

I have recently come to appreciate Malaysian cinema, specifically, "The Raid: Redemption."

Food is such a big thing! We had an Englishman as a guest a couple of years back and the challenge was 14 different meal experiences.

We made 15. :D

Wave 5 is not merely legal, but mandatory.

Thanks Obama.

Only official models, cards and tokens can be used in tournaments (proxies of

cards and ships cannot be used), and third-party range rulers and movement

templates must be agreed upon by all match participants before the game.

In North America, products are legal upon their release. Competitors outside

North America should check with their TO to determine which products are

tournament legal.

From the Official Tournament Rules PDF.

The Wave 5 product is not officially released yet in North America. It was only available for pre-release sale at GenCon 2014. Besides, it's for a tournament outside North America, so even if it's released "officially" in the US and Canada, the TO for it can declare if it'll be legal or not. It doesn't need an email asking it. It's pretty clear, I'd think...
