Any particular suggestions? I applied a base coat too thickly and I need to strip the paint. Any specific cautions with Shapeways printed ships?
Stripping paint off a Shapeways 3D printed model
im feeling really bad about the dettol advice, please check it is ok.
While its been fine with every other resin and plastic model i've ever needed to strip someone on the UK xwing fb group said his FFG produced one was damaged by the dettol
If yours is damaged by it let me know via Pm and i'll pay for the replacement.
im hoping shapeways use a different composition than whoever makes FFGss minis.
if i have inadvertently stuffed your model i'm sorry and like i say, i'll sort a replacement out for you
Ok Pm me and i'll totally compensate you for that.
If you can get it use Biostrip 20.
Takes an hour, works perfect and leaves no odour on your models.
phewwww....
Honestly fella i would have paypal'd you for a new ship as i felt totally responsible.
You totally had me there.
Yeah attack it with a cheap or old toothbrush
I have about five old ones i've kept for stripping minis, toothbrush really pulls the paint out of the recesses, i find lukewarm water and a bit of soap helps with plastics... if you end up doing a lot you switch brush after a while as once they get too wet/soft they can't grip the sticky paint gloop out
