Can you put shield upgrade on a ship with no shields?

By Azul, in X-Wing

I was just wondering if you are allowed to put shield upgrade on a ship that normally does not have shields? I am assuming yes, because I haven't seen rules stating otherwise, but if the ship doesn't have a shield generator in the first place...

yes

Thanks

You just can't put two, even with Royal Guard Title.

Yes, even if it feels weird at times. It feels downright improper on a typically shieldless ship like a TIE or Interceptor. Even though these are some of the best ships for it

Yes, but you can't put a Hull Upgrade on a ship with no hull.

Shield upgrade on an interceptor works well for me and for obvious reasons is tons better than a hull upgrade for just one point more.

The problem with squints (and all TIE OT models bar advanced) is that the first hit can really cripple you if you're unlucky whereas a shield just soaks it up.

On a tangent, shield upgrade with R2D2 for rebels is *awesome*.

Actually they have to be different upgrades so no you can't put 2 on it.

Putting shields on an unshielded ship is a point sink. After 1 hit the shields are gone so if anyone score a hit & a crit you are taking the crit regardless.

Only put shield upgrades on ships that already have shields even if it is only 1. A shield upgrade on a HWK does wonders for durability.

That's what he said.

Yes, the upgrade has no retrictions, so you could add to any ship, greettings.

...So you're telling me...

...That I could get a BUNCH of these... And put them on a TIE Swarm.

If you want to pay for em...adds 25% to the cost of the ship
