it is an auto sensor i made a reference to g a y rights movements and as a whole word it was censored as too many people use the word as an insult
i think FFG are erring on the side of caution

How about instead of bases with Nubs, maybe build bases with an inlet so the maneuver template goes into the base instead.
This would be a fun experiment, but in practice I prefer the nubs. If you could adjust by sliding, there would be hardly ever any difficulty in avoiding obstacles, and much less challenge in getting in/out of firing arcs. I think the way it is adds to the challenge, and thus the fun of it.
Imagine ding a hard 1 turn with a large base.
It breaks the game. You can literally spin 90 degrees with the Falcon if you could move the template all the way to the left and then place the ship all the way on its back left edge. Add Expert handling and it gets even nuttier.
Oh noes

game = broken

wow

Your turning efficiency can be improved by a sky-shattering 25%. Add EH and you get the even nuttier "lose your action and then next turn do a green if you want to clear the stress you got from doing it".
Oh wait, no, your complaint is really just "Falcon fortress is cheesy," because as it is now there's nothing (except blocking and asteroids, the latter of which aren't effective enough) stopping a player from doing continuous 1-turn maneuvers, and by definition the opposing player can't take a shot at the Falcon without being shot at in return (with the exception of Turr Phennir who has the rare possibility of BRing back out of range, or when the Falcon's landed on an asteroid).
I like the slip move notion.
I think the nubs also fulfill the partial role of making sure that the template is always flush with the edge it's supposed to be on; it might be harder without them for that to always be the case.
I also agree with the call for playtesting.
Sawing down the nubs on your bases might be a poor life choice, though, so Vassal is the best way.
Thankyou Sparklelord for your pics, clearly shows that a large base at sharp 1 is hardly spinning.
For those that think a falcon sitting in a spot unmoving is a powerful thing, you haven't had much experience with the game.
