I am looking for the community opinion on the best set of movement templates and range ruler to buy. Thought? Pictures?
Edited by kujoe1988Best set of movement templates and range ruler?
Applied Perspective. They're the perfect size, and have great customer service. I'll link to pics in a minute
EDIT: on second thought, I don't have pics right now. Thought I did...But, I'm headed to the shop tonight for some games and I'll get pics then!
Edited by UnfairBananaI recently purchased Team Covenant templates, they offered one item in particular that caught my attention over the AP stuff... they have a range 1 shooting template for those tight spaces which I though was really cool.
If you are in the UK or indeed anywhere in the EU, Cog 'O' Two has a good selection of X-wing gaming aids. In fact, just read my review of it http://alternativewargamer.blogspot.se/2014/06/cog-o-two-x-wing-templates.html
Applied Perspective. Fantastic products, fantastic service.
Team Covenant. I ordered a set a while ago and they re-measured the first set that FFG gave out during world's and redid theirs to match. The cool thing is they sent me a free set of templates identical to the World's templates. They also have the range 1 and 2 ruler. TC is a little pricey but they do take care of you after the purchase.
Daft Concepts makes a great set. You get a range 1, 2 and 3 ruler. You get some markers for your ships when you need to remove them. There is also an arc extender (which I don't use).

Litko...they have tons of xwing pimpage
And......that just about covered them all, have fun shopping ![]()
I have a lot of Litko stuff, but I have switched to Applied Perspective pretty much exclusively. His turnaround is really fast and his prices are good. He also offers the short range 1 and 2 rulers, which are almost a must-include in any collection.
Hopefully someone can help here. In the applied perspective site they have fluorescent, opaque, transparent and mirrored. Now mirrored would be cool but I've been told it scratches off really easy. So my question is what's the difference between the transparent and fluorescent ones? One says fluorescent blue and the other transparent blue and the pics look exactly the same. Just wondering. Also between opaque, fluorescent and transparent which is the better?
I got a chance to see the AP ones up close over the weekend... And I'm ordering a full set of mirrored... Just too damned pretty.
None of the ones I saw weren't scratched at all.
EDIT: WEREN'T... Weren't scratched at all.

AP has Ranges: 1, 2, 3 and 5 rulers. Anyone else got that selection?
Two questions:
1. Does anyone use them?
2. Do TO's generally allow them?
I think they're cool in concept, just wondering how much use they'd get.

I use them all the time. It's easier to slip a smaller template into the fray than to try and maneuver the whole range 3 stick in a furball without knocking things over.
My TO has no problem with my templates after seeing that they were exactly the same size as regular templates.

My group has sets in fluorescent blue, orange, and yellow/green. They really pop when playing under fluorescent lights, especially on a black mat.
I went with Litko so I could have my forum handle printed on mine, but because I'm an accessories nut (and always like to have a back up), I'm thinking about grabbing another set from Applied Perspective.
And I heard TC is working on tokens.
With AP, I recommend against mirrored not because of scratches, but because of how prone to fingerprints they are. It's crazy. Unless you're wearing rubber gloves, there's gonna be smudges everywhere by the end of a game. Transparent looks great.
Greenman Designs is really good and does custom engraving for 20 or so.
I ordered a custom set from Litko a while back and they were AMAZING! Neon blue with the engraving. I also got a set of orange and green range rulers that are really nice. The trick is they were kind of pricy, about $50 altogether with shipping and they took FOREVER! About a month and a half to complete the order, also they don't communicate at all unless you start to get a little forceful with them. No updates, no shipping information, nothing.
Super happy with the product, super unhappy with the service.
I vote for Applied Perspective. Great looking and functional stuff. They come with brown paper on it that covers all but the numbers. It's handy if you want to paint the numbers and arrows so they stand out a little.
Here are my opaque blue movement templates and my fluorescent orange range rulers.
EDIT: Sorry. I can't figure out how to post pictures... It shouldn't be this hard. It just keeps saying "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." I'm just trying to link a picture from Flickr.
