I just got back from Gen Con and want to post a little about it.
First off it was great to see Orishii, and his name badge idea! I loved getting to know who sable was, and some of the other well known forum users....
So first off
Day 1 (thursday), 13 hours of X-wing = lots of fun. I ran the Tie Advance they talked about in the video (yay?)... I ended the day getting cut because my MoV was too low.
So I ran a Vader + miniswarm phantom hunting list... didnt have any good line ups, though got a few satisfying wins -shared the bye round with the national champ, and got to talk to him quite a bit!-
Day 2 (friday), I get 2 more chewie cards for a second try using my famous tie hybrid swarm. I advance to the next day!
So I wake up, and goto adjust my list in the hotel room, however I couldnt find my backpack (including all of my acrylic tokens, which is 2x of everything acrylic) with my Xwing stuff, in a panic, I rush down to the car, and look in the front and back seat to the car. I then proceeded to run back up to the hotel room to search the room thoroughly, then run back down outside to the car to check the trunk. My backpack was not in the hotel, nor in the car. I walk around the car to see my backpack laying beside the door of the car! I thanked God for keeping it safe and proceeded to tell everyone how great my God was.
Day 3 (Saturday), 24 hours of xwing had started taxing my mind.... I lost a game against Dominic with what could of been a modified win due to me not realizing I had a focus token to stop his only attack from killing my Tie fighter... yeah it was pretty sad to see that loss, and then I tumbled down hill from there after playing a corran/ han list and getting outmaneuvered big time -my head was still in the last game-.
Day 4 (Sunday), I win the official unofficial wave 5 tourny (with prize support from FFG!)
Day 5 (monday), Im ready for more xwing as I get ready for my first class this semester!
Side note, Alex and Frank were amazing TOs. and I am ready for bed.
This is my first time to Gen Con. I went out JUST for Xwing, and will be heading back next year (seeing the scum ships was nice, and playing the new imperial assault game has me very very very excited)
It kinda reminded me like Dust Tacts, and looks like the models will be easily able to be played in a miniature game. I have a strong feeling they will turn it into a mini game (when I confronted the dev, he was nothing but a big ol smile...)
Side note on the side note. Armada looks fun, but Ill have my time focused into Imperial assault and xwing (the two games look amazing for a linked campaign)
