Advanced and Imperial Huge Ships Anonymous

By Blail Blerg, in X-Wing

By request of AngryAngel,

I now convene the meeting ground of supporters for these two causes.

We believe that these are the two highest priority revisions that need to take place for the current game.

(With a courtesy nod to also improving the Tie Bomber and the uniques of the Lambda shuttle.)

Let's start getting a headcount of who believes in this!

Hi, my name is 0rph3u5 and I want an Imperial Huge ship for Epic games

I'm not sure on how to fix the Advanced but I'd like to see it more outside demo games (because everyone wants to see Darth Vader in their first game)

I thought the lambda shuttle was one of the most points efficient ships in the game.

It is - but the lack of EPTs takes a toll (same as the Y-Wing named pilots); the new Imperial crew might change things up - so would futher system upgrades - but right now this is where it stands

The T/B is fine as is; access to missiles/torps needs improving (read: I don't want to have to buy expansions that I'm just going to re-sell after I taken out a single card)

A-Wing Refit has everyone spoiled these days... tstststststs...

Welcome 0rph3u5!

Hi, I'm Joe, and would gladly take any improvements to the Advanced, as well as further upgrades for the Lambda.

Hello I'm a corvette owner ( big shocker) and I would like other huge ships to shoot at. Shooting down shuttles is amusing, but easy.

Hello ... My name is any2cards, and I am a Star Wars junkie.

I will never get clean.

I will continue to covet all things Star Wars.

I promise to be a repeat offender many times over.

I will buy multiple units of everything that FFG produces for X-Wing and Armada ... even if they are a 5th, 6th, or 7th faction.

And just in case it matters FFG, I promise to buy multiple iterations of Huge Imperial Ships and Fixed TIE Advances.

Thank you. :P

Yes! more targets for rebel huge ships!

Team Covenant is selling separate upgrade cards...

Hello, my name is Angry Angel, or just Angry, or Angel, just not Ang, or gry, or gel..well, maybe Gel..anyway

For as long as I knew about epic, I've dreamed of, an epic imperial craft, the wait feels like forever. With the soon to be released Decimator, the visions flowing around my head of two decimators, with some shuttles and bombers and escorting ties, flying around my huge ship, it is, but a dream I have. A good dream and I hope one day, to wake and find that dream, of an imperial huge, has become reality.

Aside from that, I would as well say, I will keep a candle lit, for the poor and near forgotten tie advanced. We all want a reason to see these more and as much as we try, the more waves that land, we get further away from really using this ship as we should. This is an issue, we should resolve, it would give me, a squeal of glee.

As well, as an avid supporter of the majestic space albino void bison ( TM ) I would absolutely LOVE more unique pilots just for some spice and some flash, I know I've used all the named ones, even Kagi, probably about 20 or so times more then any tie advanced, but that leads in to the topic just before this one and its desperate need of a fix ( Please, Think of the Vaders..)

The bomber, while a very solid ship and only getting better with each new bomb, missile or torp, has really but one named pilot I see all the time, if I see any bombers at all, aside from the generics. I think they can get some love, dare I say, if the B wing taught us anything, they must, get some love!!

Thank you for your time, and please remember, Large or small, may the fix be with you.

"May the Fix be with you" is an awesome line.

Yes, not only are the bomber uniques kinda niche and not that competitive, but I'd even say that the low PS generics hurt the bomber much more than the low PS of other ships. They can't reliably get off bombs OR torpedoes. Ever trying bombing a squad that's all above level 4? Especially if they have post movement options to get away from the bomb, like barrel roll and boost?

FORGET IT.

I want the bomber to have a PS 6 generic. Preferably with an EPT but ok without too. Maybe a focus passer unique? Or a tracker type of ability that lets you figure out the final position of really nimble ships too?

What fantasy flight games should do for a Expansion, (Not a Wave) is add more variants of the existing ships.

The game is “X-Wing” and each “Wave" is getting away from the main theme, (in my humble opinion.) Fantasy Flight should add more variants of the existing ships. This happens for real in every Air force. Take example of the B-52, there are 12 different variants of this aircraft alone, each one modified and upgrade with new technology.

The dial for these ships would not change, but there should be slight differences in the technology for each variant. This could give all players a new twist and still keep the flavor of X-Wing. (As well as letting the player, keep playing their favorite ships!)

For examples, here are some Tie Fighter Variants;

Tie Fighter equipped with an Auto Blaster as standard issue.

Tie Fighter equipped with a targeting computer as standard issue, and still gets a Modification upgrade. This makes perfect sense, since each “New Model” of Tie Fight is upgraded on the assemble line with the newest technology.

Here are some examples of Tie Bomber Variants.

Variant A removes two torpedo slots and replaces them with second bomb slot and a crew slot. ( I would keep the missile slot just because of the variety of the ordinance.)

Variant B removes two torpedo slots and replaces one with a cannon slot, and the other with a tail gunner, (In effect, having the same firing arcs as a Fire Spray, Forward and Aft)

Variant C become and EW (Electronic Warfare) Version. Remove two torpedo slots and the bomb slot. Add two System upgrade slot and a crew slot. (With the ability to pass Target Locks! Because that is what EW Vessels do!)

Every ship in the game could get several variants.

Fantasy Flight could package in a box the same size as the core game, with four models. The empire expansion would be called, "Pilots of the Empire", And the Rebels expansion would be called, "Pilots of the Rebellion" The Empire would have the Tie Fighter, Tie Advanced, Tie Bomber, And Tie Interceptor. The Rebels would get a X-Wing, A-Wing, Y-Wing, B-Wing. Each expansion would have about a 100 different pilots. as well as pilots of the variants.

Just my humble opinion!

Agreed. Advanced + ImpHuge combo pack, a la Rebel transport.

DevotedKnight, while I think your idea is cool, I'm not sure I like it that much. Haha, a lot of stuff to keep track of. I mean, why not just put a targetting computer on a tie and call it a day?

That said, a EW bomber would be awesome.

And yes I agree. They're getting farther away. I just want them to go back and revise things. not add anything more. Other than Imperial Huges, I want nothing more.

I'd love an imperial huge ship..many of the many guys playing X-Wing are like me; we work a lot and can afford it, the rest would likely sell a kidney.

The advanced is what it is, give us the Avenger..which is what we really want.

Consider card packs; more pilots and more toys will keep it fresh and keep us experimenting. Don't create a game, create a legacy that makes $ for FFG and gives the fans what they want..it's win/ win really!

I love you all, except for the guys that made the MF title card and C3-P0 card..well, anyone who worked on the YT I suppose, but keep up the good work! And rest assured, a double EPT, imperial only Phantom title card will make it all good again. Lulz

@devotedknight

FFG follows the fluff, most if not all of those variances have no place in the fluff.

@sedarine

We want a fixed Advanced, not an Avenger to replace it. (now maybe an Avenger title......)

Would not mind either.

I just want a use for all my "garbage" Tie Advanced cards and ship.

As long as I can get a Tie Avenger model I dont mind much how it is integrated (seperate ship, title, some other way).

I'm going to touch up this post before heading to bed, and say this. We have a long and winding road ahead of us. We should stick true to our path, hold to our destiny and an imperial huge and better advanced ( or avenger ) will be ours.

May the fix be with you Brothers and Sisters

Hi, My name is Chilligan and I support a Chardaan Refit-type upgrade for the advanced and a systems slot.

I really wish I could play and Imperial vs Rebel epic game with both sides having capital ships.

That is all.

What is wrong with the Tie advanced?

"The Emperor's Hand"

pack includes TIE Advanced and TIE Defender. Cost reduction and other neat things for the TIE Advanced, and for the TIE Defender, a couple of neato cards and Maarek Stele for the Defender.
