Will Wave 6 will be worst selling because...

Wave 6 has made me consider either putting my minis away

or selling them

I love this game and hate to do it, but real pissed at that announcment

I don't see why Wave 6 would make you want to quit the game. As a doubter (more because most of the pro-side arguments were lacking than for any other reason), I certainly will be purchasing Wave 6. And Armada.

This wave makes me actually want to play this game.

I think Armada will become my main game when it comes out.

It will really scratch my itch for capital ship combat that I just can't get in X-wing. Also, wave 6 doesn't intrigue me much. For me, Star Wars was always about the Rebels vs Imperials, not SPAAAAACE PIRAAAAATES!

It's rather simple. For me, a wave of ships that I am entirely uninterested in, because I do not want to buy into a third faction when I already have 2 perfectly good and diverse factions. Even with the "deluxe" expansion adding in 4 more ship options for them, I can already play those in the current factions. And then you add in some new shiny that FFG rolled out. For me, I am excited for Armada and Imperial Assault (I love Descent, thus this is a great idea to me). A reduction of interest in one game when interest in another is boosted can easily leave one to question whether they should stick with a game.

I might pass on Wave 6, but more because I'm interested in Imperial Assault. I need to sit down and really look at the available info of them, but I am determined to somehow incorporate Armadas, X-Wing, and Imp Assault into the same campaign.

Ooo..and XCOM, too! Not to incorporate into x-wing, but just to play!

Because when the next new shiny comes out everyone will be excited again?

Also as excited as I am about Aramda, and as much as I'm pretty apathetic about Wave 6... I still love X-Wing and see no reason why I'd stop playing it at this point.

I have little to no interest in Armada compared to Wave 6, so I know where my money is going.

...to buy Armada minis for me? Thanks! You shouldn't have!

Both for me, gents. I love wave 6 and I'm pumped for Armada

Hmm strong the sour grapes in this thread are.

I'll pick some wave 6 up no doubt and i'm definitely picking up armada, will the new faction be for everyone of course not just like not everyone plays both existing factions, will it be the worse selling i severely doubt it, more likely it'll attract more people.

Wave 6 Y wing, Zs and th ecards for the Firespray is a yes for me. Gives a third faction and more scope for fun and 3 way slugfests. Then thats probably it. Not into any of the other ships as i don't know the EU outside some of the Zahn books and old video games. So I think it will be Armada to scratch that classic starwars capital ship epic feel.

My cash will go on finishing my x wing rebels off, probably Rebel Aces and another B wing than I'll see.

Hopefully an Imp epic and Imp aces 2 for an advanced fix. I'll be happy then plus I am running out of space.

I'll prolly eventually get a couple of the main scum packs (Z95s and Y Wing), plus 4 Sick Fighters, and Some Starvipers because Starvipers. Then I'm going to need at least one IG 2000. So... yeah, wave 6 is going to be huge,

Nope. I think a lot of the X-wing player base is adopting a wait and see attitude towards Armada, due to both the price and complexity of the game. Wave 6 will be perfect for:

1. Collectors looking for more unique ships

2. Meta-gamers looking for new mods/upgrades

3. Players looking for a new faction to expand their game

However I foresee the death of epic.

Because there are always some people that completely overreact, or at least that's my opinion on the matter. Sure, if someone doesn't like the new wave they won't buy it, but surely if that somehow means that person thinks it means they should up and sell the ships they do like, well, that doesn't make much sense to me.

I would have taken StarVipers and Aggressors over, say, the Phantom or Headhunter in the first place, so Wave 6 is a no-brainer.

I think wave 6 may be the worst selling.

Not because of armada, but because a lot of people only play one faction and this set has nothing (or very little) for those 2 significant groups.

Yep, except it gives me for example a faction that i really want to play over Empire or Rebels. Tastes. Not everybody is just empire or rebels.

I don't see it as being much of an issue. People will save up for what they want. I'm not sure if Armada will take off, but I really don't think it will fragment the community as much as people think because it really is a different game.

I know I'm taking a "wait and see" approach to Armada while I probably will get getting wave 6 just to have that third option and all the new bits for everything else. I guess now I shouldn't run out and get those additional Z-95s or Y-Wing I was considering.

Armada's much higher price point is what slows my enthusiasm for that game and I want to see its actual complexity first.

Such wisdom.

No, not everybody is, but a hell of a lot are.

Get it?

I definitely expect a lot of upgrade options that are not strictly S&V, so players of the other factions will have to buy some of this wave. Same reason a rebel player should still get one copy of each imperial ship so far, and vice versa.

No they won't. At this point, there are enough powerful upgrades that they won't have to buy outside of faction. Sure, the uber power players and net deckers will, but I've learned to play within my constraints. Shockingly, I don't think there is a noticeable difference.

lots of people will be saving for Armada?

Wave 6 is late '14. Armada is early '15. To field a tournament fleet for Armada will be about $220-$300 retail based on the prices in the FFG case at Gen Con.

I'll be getting it all but what about everyone else? Not trying to stir up trouble here; only putting forth an honest question.

No, reverse. Armada will suffer because people are already invested in X-Wing and can't afford/don't want to pay so much for two games.

My x-wing purchases has slowed considerably over time, as I have enough ships to field all sorts of imperial or rebel lists. Wave 6 means I have a whole new group of ships to buy, so that means FFG will be able to continue selling me x-wing products. It seems like a pretty smart move on their part to me.

I love wave 6 and can't wait to get my hands on it. That said, I won't be able to afford the investment into Armada .. so as cool as it looks I'll probably be passing on it. (Santa please bring me wave 6 ;P)
