Demo's are made to get you interested. I too found the demo at Gencon was weak. The game is basically and expansion on X-wing, with large ships. Some people will like it, but for the price I don't see it. People already complain about GW prices, and prices of other games, just wait till this thing hits. 100 dollars for a couple of ships in the starter is just crazy!!!
Edited by eagletsi111Will Wave 6 will be worst selling because...
No they won't. At this point, there are enough powerful upgrades that they won't have to buy outside of faction. Sure, the uber power players and net deckers will, but I've learned to play within my constraints. Shockingly, I don't think there is a noticeable difference.
A little bird told me that squint lovers will want/need to buy Star Vipers...

That's no more then most other game companies ask for their starters. There may be more models, but they're always cheaper versions, and they are the same % of a full list that Aramada offers.
So no, $100 for what you get is far from crazy, it's the same relative value that you get in X-Wing, only it costs more because it has bigger and so more expensive models.
Imagine if there was a starter that included the Falcon, Firespray and Decimator... Would anyone really think it's crazy that they'd ask $90 for that? You'd be getting more models then you could if you bought them individually. Same is true of Aramada, you have like $110 or more worth of models in the starter set.
Ill be buying both in mass quantities. Yay for buy 2 get 1 sales at holiday time from my FLGS!
I am not terribly excited about S&V, though I have 2 of everything on preorder. I am interested mostly in what goodies we might see for the y-wing. new turret, new bomb / slot. New cannon. I dont care for the looks of any of the S&V ships, but I relize that is personal taste. They don't seem to "fit" the design style of star wars to me. The Y-wing, X-wing, Falcon, etc, all look like they belong in the same universe. the starviper does not. What is the point of the long, tentacle like projections? It looks like a satellite or an escape pod or something. I feel the same way about the agressor. To me, they just don't look star wars. I realize others will disagree, and that's fine. I'm still getting them, but I would not say I was excited for them. I want them to finish what they started and flesh out epic play. more ships, clear, balanced rules. I hope that epic play is not abandoned for armada, I also thik that would be a bad business desicion. As for Armada, I think I will wait and see.

Can we please get off this "it's way over-priced" concept? That's just the FFG suggested retail price. Any of the big dogs in the game shop (and especially online) vendors won't be anywhere near there.
Pre-order prices from (collected today):
Minatures Market: $66.67 US
Cool Stuff Inc.: $67.99 US
Fun Again Games: $79.99 US
Meeplemart: $74.95 Canada
So yeah, not $100.

I'm more interested in hearing what a standard squad will cost to field. If that box holds everything you need for a standard squad then $100 isn't bad because a standard rebel squad for X-Wing would cost you ~$70 MSRP just to get 3 X-Wings. More than that if you take the standard advice of "buy 2 starter sets". I suppose we'll see when the reviews for the starter set start rolling in.
Complaining about $100 msrp is completely legit if you are comparing it to other msrp prices. Of course you can get it cheaper, you can also get X-Wing stuff cheaper.

We discuss this all on the Aramada boards, with ideas about how much it will cost to field 300 point lsits. Check out the thread I made 2 Core or not 2 core.

Comparing it to what? Other Armada starter sets that cost less? Other game starter sets that cost the same if not more? X-Wing core sets that cost less, but have much smaller models?
If you compare the price of the starter set to the retail price of the models, then no you honestly have nothing to complain about, because you're getting more then $100 worth of models. If $100 is more then you're willing to spend for a game, that's fine. But for what you get the cost is not by any means too high. If anything it's a better value then the X-Wing starter sets.
Just because online retailers are able to sell it for less does not take away the issue that it has a $100 MSRP. And considering you are likely going to need at least one more $40 expansion to have a 300pt squad, it will be costly to have variety.
Personally, I'm leaning toward Imperial Assault for my new $100 game. A bit more of a full game in the box, although I will want the expansions. Especially with Dark Forces content.

$140 for a tournament sized list, vs $85 to $135 for a Tournament sized X-Wing list.
If anything Armada will actually be a bit cheaper then X-Wing will, if you compare the cost for a complete collection of Wave 1 X-Wing vs wave 1 Armada.
I don't think armada is going to do that well. I'm not personally buying it. The other funny thing about it is even at reduced sacks super star destroyers are once again to large even in armada. But worse still xwing has a decent size player base it's not exactly hard to find a Game but you do need to look for it. Armada is even more expensive then xwing.
The weakest wave for xwing was likely the corvette most people who got it bought one and even still most players I know didn't buy it. Beyond that I think wave 6 will be weak but wave 5 will make less due to actual sales. You only need 1 ship from wave 5 and that's if u want to even play it.
The Corvette and Transport were not a wave. They were basically two "core sets" for playing Epic Scale.
X-wing is still really new two years is nothing it's not price putting people off quite the opposite it's much cheaper than alot of the competitors.
People know 40k they know warmahordes until recently they were the big names in the sector, it just takes time.
Armarda won't be for everyone but that's true of alot of games, people like me who used to enjoy gothic will love it but it won't stop me playing x-wing.
While i am not interested into armada, card upgrades will be faction-ship related right? So you won't be buying yo get some cards por ali wrong ocon this?
I am all in for Wave 6 and will return crappy X-Mas gifts to pay for Armada!
Sorry, kids, that tie was nice, but spaceships are better!
tie's are spaceships.
At least 4 of each scum expansions and 4 most wanted kits for me. I think I will only go with 2 Armada core sets though.
Well i know FFG won't be making money off of me.To me X-wing is the Rebels Vs. the Empire, none of this smuggler/pirate crap, and i have never really enjoyed large scale battles so Armada doesn't appeal to me at all.
Honestly, I don't think wave 6 and armada will compete with one another. The games will function differently, pull in some different crowds with a bit of overlap in player base. However the games, aside from being based on the same background, I think will feel worlds different.
As well, I highly doubt they'll release near each other, I'm highly skeptical wave 6 will be out the end of this year, and Armada itself might be delayed. Or Armada could come out before Wave 6 even drops.
For a third options, you have time, if people buy online, they can pre order and buy all of wave 6 long before it will drop, then do the same with Armada and there really is no bother with the two of them.
At this point I'm mostly looking forward to aces packs, so I hope they continue with them!
I'd really like some fresh tie fighter pilots and a Rebel aces pack with y-wings (that Rebels can use).

It's almost like you don't trust ffg to release stuff in time just look at aces...Erm I mean wave four...Erm so Q2 2015...maybe.

There are upgrades in most wanted that rebel Y wings can use. Looks like a title with a lot of text and a torpedo upgrade that grants a bomb slot.
I've already pre-ordered Wave 6 at my FLGS (1 Most Wanted, 2 Star Vipers, 2 IG-2000 & 4 M3-As). I'm holding off on Armada till I have a chance to actually play the game to see if I like it or not before jumping in.
Personally I am very Excited for wave 6 (mostly the Star Viper but IG2000 seems interesting and of course Y-wings
) That said I will get into Armada at some point but probably not until I am sure there is a good deal of interest in in my area, nothing would be worse than dropping 200-250$ on a game to find out you can only find games on Vassal or once a year for the Organized lay Events FFG puts on
