Wave 6 is late '14. Armada is early '15. To field a tournament fleet for Armada will be about $220-$300 retail based on the prices in the FFG case at Gen Con.

I'll be getting it all but what about everyone else? Not trying to stir up trouble here; only putting forth an honest question.

The Fan Boys of the stories/comics/movies will find the time and money for both. They're two really different games. I don't see too many of my friends jumping ship to go all in on Armada.

Shouldn't be that much.

Core set + 2 Gladiators and a fighter pack will run you $180. That should be enough for a 300 point list.

Core set + Assault MK II and a fighter back will run you $160 and again that should give you 300 points.

Myself, I don't plan in buying much if anything from wave 5, maybe the Y-Wing/Z-95 pack, but only if there's upgrades for rebels in it.

Nope. I think a lot of the X-wing player base is adopting a wait and see attitude towards Armada, due to both the price and complexity of the game. Wave 6 will be perfect for:

1. Collectors looking for more unique ships

2. Meta-gamers looking for new mods/upgrades

3. Players looking for a new faction to expand their game

It's a pass for me. It looks like a lot of fun, but I barely have enough time, space and money for X-Wing at a fighter scale. They certainly did it right with the movement and commands. Plus with all the upgrades and actions, this is no after thought. Still, my loyalty will remain to the original game.

I am all in for Wave 6 and will return crappy X-Mas gifts to pay for Armada!

I predict X-Wing will always be a bigger seller than Armada. Armada will probably be too complex, crunchy, and expensive to reach the popularity of X-Wing.

Also, I love the new ships so much I will buy enough of them to support FFG through the x-mas season.

Now that they're getting into obscure EU with the third faction, I hope they dip into the obscure small ships the Empire has to offer for Epic play. If you want the ships everyone knows, go play Armada. If you want to have loads of dogfighting fun with awesome EU ships, come to X-Wing.

Why? I mean I don't care much for the ships in Wave 6 either. But that doesn't mean I'll stop playing X-Wing. It's not like they're going to suddenly break the game or something.

I imagine X-Wing sales will continually diminish regardless of what they release

X-Wing was a pretty complete game in wave 3 and even more so after wave 4. More stuff is cool but you could easily stop or at least drastically reduce your purchases and stay competitive or have a great fleshed-out game to play casually.

So after the announcement of wave 6, I now have zero interest in Armada. I enjoy X-Wing and dogfighting way too much.

Wave 6 will finally give me the X-wing game I've wanted since I started playing a year and a half ago. Armada looks really cool, but it will have to wait, until I have a full legion of Scum & Villiany ships.

Wave 6 will sell fine because competitive players will still have to buy one of each expansion to get the upgrade cards in the wave, even if they don't intend to play that faction. There WILL be new cards that ships in each previous wave can equip, and some of those cards will likely be quite powerful. I will wait and see how the new faction plays before I collect enough to play it competitively, but I'll certainly buy one of each.

x wing is like cowbell. you are really going to want more.

Wave 6 has completely written off Armada for me, I was thinking about it, saw the demo and thought it looked great, then wave 6 happened. Armada can sit this one out.

It did almost the opposite to me. Heck I love X-wing but wave 6 is giving me an opportunity to redirect some of my cash flow towards armada as the S&V as ships are not that appealing to me. I will definitely enjoy both games but wave 6 will probably just be "one of each" collection.

The Decimator and YT-2400 look awesome though and I will pickup at least two of both.

Armada will still be too expensive for me anyways. 40 dollars might be fine, since it would be around 30 euros, but they will price them at 40 euros. I am not paying that for the ships... as much it saddens me.

Nah, I don't think it will have much impact. The people that can get both, will get both. Otherwise they'll stick with X wing releases. They are different games and I don't think they'll bother each other very much if at all. Heck, I doubt each X wing player will even enjoy armada and that goes the other way as well.
