Next Saga Expansion: The Treason Of Saruman!

By 13thcaesar, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

The three scenarios for Treason are chasing Uruk-Hai, defense of Helm's Deep, and attack on Isengard.

Lost Realm is working with Dunedain Rangers to protect Bree, hunt Orcs, and confront an ancient evil.

The white horse of Gandalf. ^^

I agree Gandalf Hero, goodbye Gandalf ally

Love the new Aragorn. His abilities fit nicely with Tactics, and that ability to reduce armor could really open up uses for Straight Shot.

I think the description for the third quest is "confront an ancient evil at Deadmen's Dike."

We're off to Fornost. :)

I see another tactics hero in the below image, 2 aragorns?..., 2nd with 0 threat?

That's the fellowship sphere Aragorn. He has 0 threat like Frodo had in the first two boxes.

Ah, thanks, i 'm aware now

Loving the Aragorn focus! But it still doesn't make the three hunters any easier to play, unless you go mono tactics. Here's hoping we see a new Legolas and Gimli soon!

Wish Anduril was a player card though.

Tactics aragorn? Well I was not expecting him; though it does make sense now as the cycle is set in Arnor.

I'm thinking the 2nd hero has a good chance to have the scout trait.

And shadowfax! Attach to Gandalf. He will be some awsome when geared up! It might be a readying effect.

Tactics Aragorn! Oh snap, wasn't expecting him at this point but very cool and a good ability! (Small point: while he retains the same stat and threat values as the previous iterations, he does not have the "sentinel" keyword in either the tactics or fellowship hero). So does Halbarad make the most sense now for the other hero? The expansion itself looks phenominal based off the limited glimpses; I will be in eager anticipation for future news about it.

My bet would be Halbarad as well, I really don't know what other hero fits the theme. Hobbit maybe?

The only thing I don't really like is the color scheme of the new Saga expansion. Orange/Brown again? They should've gone full red and then blue for RotK, but then agin I'm only nitpicking. These new announcements got me pretty excited about this game!

I'm just glad that the next saga expansion comes with a pair of shoes!

I would totally wear FFG shoes

However, Road Darkens would be more exciting if it was the last saga expansion. Now, it seems you are buying an old pack (even it hasn`t been released in shops! -crazy-)

Wow! This is looking terrific.

I tried scanning the QR codes and the content is not yet available. Worth a try!

Trying to think of some things that will work well with new Aragorn. Granted we will have a lot of unknown player cards released between now and when our nxt deluxe expansion hits shelves but would firefoot work well on him? Not sure on timing but it would be sweet if you could slay the first enemy, trigger his ability to pull another to you then place the excess damage with firefoot on the newly engaged foe. With firefoot alone you'd be able to take down enemies with a total of 5 DEF/HP (provided one of those points was in defense which is likely) which is a solid number and can be augmented with a dagger of westernesse, some thematically appropriate Dunedain marks, and whatever other weapons we will certainly get in the future

Also even tho we have no idea what that lore card "expert trackers" does, odds are he'll work well with it since we can at least tell it activates when engaging an enemy which our new Aragorn can do frequently. I also like how new Aragorn carves a nice niche for himself by engaging enemies thus not having to rely on running copies of hammerstroke or discarding your outriders to draw enemies away from fragile teammates

Last point (for this post) I like how it seems that the ranger trait is gelling together tactics and lore which are two spheres that don't normally work that great together. With things like the weapons including great yew bow and hands upon the bow which work well with Faramir and Haldir, now we know the only two player cards parky spoiled in the new expansion go well together too. The yet released ranger attachment (whose name is escaping me goes great with new Aragorn too)

Started a new Forum so we can let this thread be about The Treason of Saruman

The Lost Realm Deluxe Expansion

Just noticed a card called Expert Trackers on the Angmar box. Can't wait to see what it does. Looking forward to making tracker1's tracker themed deck, Ithilien tracker, silvan tracker, northern tracker and ranger stuff etc.. Love it!

Aragorn tactics - 1 def for engaged enemies can make a big difference early in the game. So may enemies early in the game are just 1 pt away from being destroyed. Response for solo play could still be good to pull a high engagement cost enemy out of staging area.

I think it's likely we'll get a new Gimli and Legolas in Treason. It would be terrible to have a saga expansion with a quest about the three hunters and not be able to use the three hunters together. Given the decisions that they've made recently, Caleb and Matt understand the thematic importance of a section like that in the book. I have faith that we'll see a playable three hunter deck.

Will we though? Since we will be getting Aragorn as the saga hero we could just play the existing Gimli and Legolas as a pseudo secrecy pair with starting threat 20.

I won't complain if we do get new versions - or ally versions - though. Some spirit Legolas sounds good.

Worthless hero speculation for treason of saruman:

Gimli: lore

Legolas: spirit

Leadership: Theoden

Tactics: Eowyn (although tactics Eowyn would probably be a better fit for the Return of the King expansion)

Grey Company just reported via FFG staff that Road Darkens is due Q4 and Treason of Saruman is due Q1 2015. That would be amazing if we actually got Treason in Q1.

Q4? Man what a drag. Here's to hoping it'll at least be early October and that we won't have to wait a full year to get our hands on treason of saruman.

So be it though, I'm just glad that it appears that the state of the game is strong

Has anybody been able to figure out what Fellowship Aragorn's text says?
