Yes they will... but Rebel, or Imperial...
I'm excited for this 3rd faction!
Too many 'new/3rd factipn' threads.. for something there is NO evidence of ever happening...
Art work doesn't prove release of ships.
If they do.. I can't afford to worry about it, and won't purchase it. We are legion that feel the same way.

You rascals... hovering around that pit, but you are not ready to die, which is good too. This art DOES PROVE what it needs to prove, and that is cool too too.

The art just proves they are using nice art... I've been unemployed for for a year and a half, I have expenses and life to live. I have forgone getting a corvette til next year, and some of the current ships are eluding me as well. That said, I still feel it will be unproductive for them to do a 3rd faction. The game is about imperials, and th rebels they fought. The casual gamer quite possibly has no clue of the EU ships, and to bring in some of those factions would be a big mistake, like Neb Bs in epic.. not in the realm of reality.
STAR WARS is far more than three thirty year old films.
FFG intends for X-Wing to thrive, thus it will be more also... PERIOD.

Thank god I can finally hear somebody else say this.
FFG will make their choice on it. It's not so far out of the realm of possibilities for many reasons. With as much as they play test and carefully word their cards/units imbalance is not really an issue. They just have to figure out how they can profit from it.
I do think episodes 1 to 3 having their own starter kit and new ships etc is much easier for them to produce. It can use the same system but is its own thing.
Armada is an interesting development and certainly shows they want to expand the star wars miniatures side of things because they have a good game and a good profit to make from it. And unlike a prequel game or a third faction it targets a different group of consumers.
Marketing is above all our wanted and unwanted toys. And there is a finite number of things they can do with armada and X wing keeping things at the status quo.

From a certain point of view
Edited by onewayReally???, again, greettings.
Guys... they put the Decimator in the game. You'd be hard pressed to find a more obscure EU ship to include in the game. ANYTHING is possible. From this point forward, until the release of Ep VII, none of the waves are for movie purists, it's all for EU fans. The aces boxes are for the movie purists.
The only thing I'm sure of is that the Armada game pretty much ends any theory of a Prequel version of this game. There's only so much room for Star Wars space combat games. Which fits with everything FFG has done. They're releasing THREE Star Wars RPG's... None of which are set in the Prequel era. They're not interested in doing Prequel stuff. You just gotta accept that. You'd have to be blind not to see the evidence. It's there for all to see.
FFG distanced themselves from the Prequels even before Disney came along and did the same thing and it became the in thing to do. The chances of seeing a separate Prequel era game is about zero. At least until such a time as this new era burns itself out and Prequel nostalgia begins to hit in about ten years.
You know they once said there would be no Tie Bombers, and that the Defender could not find a home.... The only thing that is sure is this game will continue to grow, and FFG will do what they decide to do. Anyone speaking with certainty about what will or will not be released, sans evidence, is just blowing smoke, or trollin.
You might be right about the distancing of the prequel Dragon. As it sits I think it only has a large target group of 5 to 11 year Olds who watched the clone wars animated stuff.
Not to say that I don't like some elements of the clone wars era because I do it just needs some time to brew a larger audience.
For a lot of people, it really isn't.STAR WARS is far more than three thirty year old films.
But even the people who have only ever seen the movies and have never read anything from the EU know that the EU exists. They know that there is a vast reservoir of additional material and most of them would probably expect a licensed game to dip into reservoir, even if they themselves can't speculate on what might be there.

FFG said there wouldn't be Bombers?? I find that hard to believe. If you mean guys on the board, well proof positive we spout all sorts of things on here, yes, I said We lol
so far all these threads have been "speculation" threads, though there are those who have made their points as if their word was Holy and irrefutable.
I've always said it's my opinion, and that I could be proven wrong. No one has convinced me I am mistaken in my view, because no one knows anything so it's all just... opinion. We all have one.

Likewise, it's way more than Jedi and Sith.
God that conflict gets old. OLD.
