Dammit! I can't keep up!!

Yes there are quite a few ships now but you generally will use three or four as rebels and five or six as imperial unless your swarming, that's dirt cheap compared to 40k or warmahordes and if your just playing friends I don't think you need to own every card as long as you know how they work.

Start slow figure out your play style and expand once you know what you like.

You don't gotta win either, but some people like doing that.

There is truth here. Playing casually, I don't mind getting squashed. But when I pay to play in a premier event, I prefer to do well. Still, winning isn't as important to me as having a fighting chance. I think it was the pilots of Gundam W that kept fighting the "losing battle." Some of the most fun games I have played ended in a loss for me.

It's tough they release too much we complain, they go to slow we complain . Self control is a good thing to practice you don't have to buy everything :)

Quite so - I held off on the Defender and the Phantom for personal reasons. But, I feel like not flying the Phantom has made it my bane. It IS the Phantom Menace on my peace of mind.

The TIE swarm should be able to take it on if it breaks formation.

That being said, if you don't want to get a phantom, borrow one of DagobahDave's and play a couple of matches to get the feel for it. Once you know thy enemy, it will fall before your deadly hexagons.

Spot on there Hobojebus, pre pianted models, Rulebook that does not change more times than we go to the loo and an actual starter boxset that does what it says on the tin, whats there not to like? Building up a 100 point fleet is extremely easy and affordable, I just love this game. To collect all the ships? Well its just great to visit the local hobby shop more often and If I happen to buy an expansion pack at a time......how cool is that. The likes of GW had better start getting their head out of where the sun dont shine if they hope tobe arounf much longer. Other games companies are coming out with better games, better starter sets and affordable and more complete expansions, a certain company that doess WW2 at 28mm comes to mind. FFG have done an amazing job with X Wing and long may it continue.

GW should just hire ffg to make 8th edition then you'd have clean well worded rules unlike the usual mess.

I mean they've said themselves they are now a model company so why not admit they don't have any talent left in their dev group and get a company with a proven track record do it for you.

Honestly they've let things slide for a decade now and it's a bit late to do anything small they need drastic action slash prices buy advertising and they might not go bust in the two to three years predicted, frankly though the management is incompetent and will just keep heading for that cliff.

It's just you.

You can beat a Phantom with nothing more than thoughtful asteroid placement and good flying.

Pretty sure you still need to roll red dice at some point :P

I managed to get one out the board withouth shooting at it. Some crazy overlapping was needed with the Zwarm.
