Just wanted to take a moment to remember another alien from the 70's that is no longer with us
Off topic...RIP Robin Williams
It's going to be a depressing week for a lot of people.
Ain't that a BLEEP!

Unreal.
That certainly takes the wind out of my solar sails...sad day indeed!
He apparently played Warhammer, Elves and Orcs.
He will be missed
This has thrown me into an unreal funk. It's just... Unbelievable. He touched so many little pieces of who I turned into...
It's depressing.
I'll miss his soothing voice in movies.
Dude took the selfish way out, and his permanent solution to a temporary problem has/will hurt alot of people who I'm sure cared deeply for him. A real shame
Someone else on my feed summed up my feelings best, "I feel like I've been hit in the stomach, had to grow up, and lost a part of my childhood all at once."
Regardless of how he went out, I'll remember only the good times, and the laughs. RIP Funny Man.
I'm 27 and was first introduced to Williams via Aladdin when i was young. As Williams acted I grew up, and Williams career matured with me, from Mrs Doubtfire, Jaminji Hook to The birdcage, then as i got older he came out with movies like Bicentennial man and Patch Adams.
Robin Williams Was one of my favorite actors. and today was a punch in the gut. Because he's been in more movies that have made me feel something than any other actor.
He did a ******* Zelda commercial with feels for christ sake
RIP Robin Williams
PS i'm watching The Birdcage right now only because watching Hook would make me cry

There's nothing selfish about suicide.
Also an avid fan of Dungeons and Dragons. He was a gamer, and a bringer of smiles and laughs, and a good man. Sad, sad day.
I've also grown up with his movies, and have been aware of his gaming history for quite a while. I'm watching Good Morning Vietnam as my own silent farewell, and thanks.
RIP Mr Williams.
Really is sad
R.I.P

The man was severely depressed and as anyone with even a bit of understanding on that can tell you, suicide is selfish nor easy.
Might I suggest you read Allie Brosh's account of her depression, which is considered by experts to be a very accurate description?

I think I will miss that little smile of his the most. There was so much support in that smile.

I dont disagree with you on much Wonder... but I do on this one. Killing yourself is the absolute MOST selfish thing someone can do; because your putting yourself above everyone in your life; his wife, daughter, everyone who counted on him to be a man and a father and he took the easy way out rather than fight.

Saying "he took the easy way out rather than fight" is at best a drastic oversimplification of what struggling with mental illness actually feels like from the inside.
This is actually a really good resource:

Being a sufferer of depression I can tell you that sometimes when it is at its worst the only option that makes sense to you is that you're better off dead. You feel that everyone else is better off and that you will be too, you're not trying to get away from something or give up a fight. There is no easy fix and no matter how successful your life or great your achievments are you see no point in them. These feelings are at odds with how you should be feeling and it is all caused by depression which is an illness. You can't snap out of it or simply cheer up, the same way some one with cancer can't just get better.
Robin Williams didn't give up or take the easy way out, he just lost his fight with a cruel illness.
Edited by Blusox69I was very sad when I saw this yesterday. My first thought was "Peter Pan died", since that is one of my favorite movie that he played in. I'll miss him ![]()

Semantics aside, "easy way out or not" is debatable; what isn't is the fact that he let his wife and daughter down in the worst possible way. There is no coming back, making up... nothing just gone and his family is left to recover in the wake of the destruction he left behind.

Says someone who hasn't dealt with depressive illness.
A terrible shame, I never saw a single report of anyone with a bad word to say about him, and for someone in the movie industry that's quite the testament to how much he was respected.

Utter rubbish, that would mean anyone that succumbed to an illness is being selfish. You're misconception is that he had a choice, that is not how depression works.

Sure, that's how it looks (and, undoubtedly, how it honestly feels) from the outside. From the inside the picture is... different.
The thing about mental illness is that it changes how you perceive yourself and the world--and by that I don't mean that Williams was right, or that his family and friends are any less devastated, but simply that the motives behind suicide are rarely simple or even comprehensible to observers.
