New YT2400 Update!

By Slugrage, in X-Wing

Well, I think Rexlar is replacing Predator with Lone Wolf. Experimental Interface needs to be played around with. Some interesting possibilities.

Not sold on Countermeasures.

Trying to wrap my head around Experimental Interface, so here's all the upgrades you could use with it.

Marksmanship

Squad Leader

Expose

Saboteur

Lando Calrissian (crew)

All of them would benefit in terms of action efficiency, which is quite often the biggest problem with these.

Forgot about Droids and Prox Mines.

I didn't list Expert Handling, because IMO it's a bad combo. A Boost action at the cost of 2 stress? No thanks.

Experimental Interface+Expose on the Decimator is a pretty decent combo. Played it a bunch, with some success! And I always have trouble getting far enough away for Lone Wolf to trigger, if I have more than a 2 ship list.

Countermeausures will nerf aplha strikes and swarm initial attacks.

Lone wolf will go on Kath, Bobba, and maybe Whisper/Echo.

Experimental Interface and Eaden Vrill are Awesome. Eaden will be the one that most equip the HLC turret with.

Erhm, no? Eaden needs the primary attack to function and with the title you no longer make primary attacks.

You've been playing long with this? Since when?

Not if you put it on a ship that can barrel roll so you can focus, barrel roll, shed a lock.

Experimental Interface should make for some fun, new combos. Great card.

Leebo (ship card) is like a reverse Maarek, heh.

I think Eaden Vrill is the pilot who makes the YT-2400 competitive, though. You need that third attack die. Even if you have to build your squad around it (adding ships who can stress the opponent), the combo might be better than trying to make the other YT-2400 pilots work.

With the pace these Wave 5 previews are coming out, I'm becoming more convinced that FFG will sell it at GenCon.

Lone Wolf seems like a better version of Predator, for less. Firesprays & Defenders should love it...

Except that Lone Wolf is unique, while Predator is not. Still, it's a nice upgrade.

My bad, I was mixing up EH with Daredevil.

Oooh Expose will work with EI. But is it really better than oppertunist since you are getting stressed and need to loose agility?

Well, it's less situational, since you control when it triggers and you don't have to rely on the target being stripped of tokens. But it's an awfully expensive combo (7 pts) considering you're also taking the stress/-1 agility...

Am I the only one that thought the 360 model didn't look as good as the model in the rest of the pics?

Eaden Vrill with a HLC is 39 points, same as a Firespray.

You get 4 dice in primary Range 2-3 and 360 2 dice range 2-3 out of arc, 3 dice range 1.

Add 1 dice if the ship is stressed and you get 5, 3, 4. Wow.

Yeah, you're right there, that is not a combination you'd willingly equip. I just went for completeness. :P.

I'm kind of surprised the rebel ship is one that has an aggressive interaction with stress. I had really figured an effect like this would have been on one of the Imperial pilots, given how the Imperials are better at dealing stress in general, while the Rebels are better at shaking, or even using it.

It is, however, an encouraging sign. We need more cards that make people want to actually avoid stress rather than see it as a minor inconvenience.

This guy is a right tease!

Probably a playtester.

Get excited for this combo:

Chewbacca (42) + C-3PO (3) + Lando Calrissian (3) + Experimental Interface (3) + Millennium Falcon (1) + EPT to taste

Expensive, but generates up to 3 evade tokens (plus 3PO) per turn. Ew.

BTW: the text concerning Leebo (crew): This is the first "ion cost" introduced on an upgrade.

I'm guessing the Decimator will have the second?

I'm also thinking Leebo on a Transport?

You won't get the bonus die with your HLC--it's primary weapon only.

Nope, it looked very cartoony to me.

Just played a bunch of games this morning... Now where's our final Decimator preview FFG!!?

AWESOME!

I'm slightly concerned about Lone Wolf making Falcon builds even more tanky though. With 1 agility, you now have a 60.94% chance of rolling an evade: 1 - (5/8)^2

Additional shenanigans:

  1. Call 0 with C-3P0, get 1 "free" evade.
  2. If it comes up blank, reroll it.
  3. You still have 1 evade token from Millennium Falcon

The main difference is flying the Falcon away from everything else, and having slightly lower damage output relative to Predator. Luke helps here, he will see even more play.

Lone Wolf is my favorite of these cards.... which is saying alot because many of them rock. Best thing about Lone Wolf is that I think it's going to give rise to more 2-ship builds. Falcon and Outrider shall fly as brothers!

My wife likes to play a Falcon with a pair of A-Wings as flankers (she's going to LOVE Rebel Aces) and Lone Wolf on her Falcon is going to be scaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrryyyyyyyyy

Worth noting, in this context: a Range 1-2 bubble around even a small ship has a diameter approximately half as large as a side of the play space. Accordingly, each bubble has an area of about one-fifth of the entire map; add in obstacles that further constrain your ships' navigation, and it turns out that while Lone Wolf is very good, mathematically, it actually has quite a restriction.

If only Backstabber could run Lone wolf. Someday buddy, you will get your EPT.
