Rise of the Servitors 2.0

Preface

I initially created this modification of the original Rise of the Servitors ruleset in order to open up a wider range of Servitor types; the game mechanic that RotS introduced had incredible potential. By changing their focus from merely augmenting the Ancient One in a final showdown to providing a direct challenge to the Investigators during their struggle, they become an active (albeit stationary) obstacle and thus more significant during the earlier stages of the game.

  • If you like the rules, please use them!
  • If you have a suggestion, I'd love to hear it!
  • Lastly, but most importantly, if you make your own Servitors, share them!

Rise of the Servitors 2.0

Servitors are powerful and (usually) human servants of the Ancient Ones. Their task in Arkham Horror is much like that of a Herald: to pave the way for their master's coming.
Setup:
After choosing the Herald/Guardian, select three Servitors. If two have iden tical Domains, discard one and choose another until each is in a unique location. Mark the locations with Domain tokens.
Servitor rules:

1. Concerning Gates:

A. When a Gate opens at a Servitor's location, do not generate any

monsters with it.

B. The difficulty of closing the Gate increases by one.

C. Gates with a Servitor may not be sealed.

D. While the Gate remains open, when its Mythos symbol comes up for monster

movement, take a monster from the cup and place it at the location.

2. Fighting Servitors:

A. During the Arkham Encounter phase, an Investigator at the Servitor's

location may choose to enter combat with the Servitor instead of having

an encounter or closing the gate.

B. Combat against a Servitor proceeds as against a monster, except that an

In vestigator cannot flee once combat begins.

C. Passing the Combat check(s) against the Servitor removes one Doom token

from the track at the bottom. The Servitor cannot be engaged again by the

same Investigator that turn.

D. When the last Doom token is removed from the Servitor, its token is

removed from the board and the Servitor is defeated.

3. Defeated Servitors:

A. The Investigator that removed the last Doom token from a Servitor claims

its Domain token as a trophy; this is worth 1 gate trophy.

B. If there is an open gate at the location, it is closed and the Investigator

takes it as a trophy.

C. Remove a Doom token from the Ancient One and place it Elder-sign up at the

Servitor's (former) location.

D. If all three Servitors are eliminated, reduce the Terror Track by three.

EDIT: Ugh, this may take a bit, as I may have to dig through my physical notes. I'll post as I find 'em.
