Rebel Swarm Discussion

By An Irishman, in X-Wing

I have a tournament coming up in 2 weekends and want to begin practicing with my list.

I call it: Rabble Squadron

Dagger + Adv Sensors: 27

Gold Sq + Ion Turret + R2: 24

Tarn + R7: 25

x2 Bandit Squadron: 24 (12 x 2)

Once Rebel Aces is released I plan to try:

Dagger + adv. Sensors: 27

Gold Sq + Ion Turret: 23

Red Sq: 23

Prototype Pilot + Chardaan Refit: 15

Bandit Sq: 12

So my general question is, will these two lists be competitive? Is it worth losing some PS in the second list just to include an A-wing? I know I'll have some trouble with phantoms, but swarms offer a lot of arcs to cover the battlefield. What other rebel swarms have had success in the current meta?

Thanks for your response.

(criticism welcome, outright attacking... not so much)

Are you trying to stay at PS4 as much as possible?

Because you could use Tam rather then Red for the same points but you'd lose 1 PS on Tam.

You could take Tam + R7 (if you have a E-Wing) and Gold rather then Grey, and put a Astro on Gold. But again that lowers your overall PS.

I'd definitely drop the grey down to gold.

Not sure if it's a game breaking list but definately looks competetive to me.

You are keeping all your ships with doing what they are good at.

b + sensor

y + ion turret

z - cheapness

x - decent over all well rounded rebel ship

I like using a r2d2 on my x wing when i make hodge podge lists, though a bare x is still good.

That was kind of the idea, although PS4 may not be that important in the current meta. I like the idea of Tarn instead. Here's my updated list:

- Dagger + Adv Sen: 27

- Tarn + R7: 25

- Gold + Ion Trt +R2: 24

- x2 Bandit Sq: 24

Other paradigms

4x Prototype + Chaardan Refit

ORS + Gunner + MF title + Chewbacca + Hull Upgrade

6x Tala Squadron

1x Blue

Has anyone tried flying 8x bandits ?

Why run 8 bandits when you can run 4 bandits and 4 Talas?

I just meant some build of 8x headhunters.

Yes, a squad of 8-Z95s had just took 1st place in England's X-Wing tourney. It beat out the famous Howlrunner tie swarm!!!

I'm a great player by no means and I admit that up front, but I have done quite well lately with both XXXZZZ and BXXZZZ. It won me a local league title, got me MUCH higher place at the Atlanta Regional than I expected (17th out of 61) and second place at a 10 player local tournament, all in the last month. Low pilot skill, but lots of attack and lots of shield. Most often, they attempt to focus out the B-wing first, and often fail to do so in the first turn, so I can wipe a ship and often heavily damage or clear a second weak ship in the first exchange. Swarms or other large lists give me the most issue, but I have beaten 4 Bwings, BBXX, Firesprays, Interceptors, shuttles, and Threepio Falcons with ease. Falcons and Phantoms tend to give the most issue from a skilled player, but I have scored victories against both. Like I said, I am not a great player, I leave most of my luck to my list and my practice maneuvering TIE Swarms back in the day. The dials are slower and less nimble, but the practice with TIE Fighters has definitely helped me succeed with rebel swarms.

You can easily do 4 A-Wings and a HWK or Y-Wing.

I'd equip the Y-Wing with Ion Cannon Turret and an R2 so it won't be as stressed often.
