I've been looking into flying an arc dodging imperial squad and i was looking at the possibility of Vader and two squints, however I've been seeing a lot of Vader flame on here and curious what are the typical arc dodging squads are? thanks for any help

Vader is awesome, give him engine upgrades and he is the best arc dodger in the game. His problem is that for a lot of points he only gets two attack dice. I think we will see a little more of him with Outmaneuver.
Vader stays on target, after all... He's on the leader.
I was thinking of running Vader with Engine Upgrade and Dare Devil, with either a wingman or Yorr for stress removal.
I do enjoy fighting against Vader... Engine upgrades do him well.
And forgive my noobness, but Arc dodging?
staying out of your opponents firing arc.. = Arc Dodge
Vader is quite good with engine upgrade and outmaneuver.
Shame he is just too expensive.
Fun in casual/friendly non-tournament play? Hell yes!
He's not a bad missile boat, too. With two actions, he can pull a focus & target lock simultaneously, which is **** near 4 garuanteed hits with homing or concussion missiles...
Engine upgrades are indeed also superb.
If you take it, he has two offensive actions (focus, target lock), two defensive (focus, evade), and two manouvring (boost, barrel roll), allowing you to double-down on whatever action you need.
Added to his high pilot skill - matched only by 3 other pilots without using talents that he can use as well if you really wanted to - he's a real beast to face, despite the Advanced X1's lower firepower.
My personal preference for elite pilot talents: Adrenaline Rush. Those two actions are so critical that being able to pul them after a koiogran makes him even better. Outmanouvre is also good.
Edited by Magnus GrendelI agree that his actions are critical, Stay on Target might not be the best. But, if you put it on him, together with EU you can either maneuver into position for a hit, or give up on your actions to become a real Arcful Dodger and just bypass everthing and everyone.
Plus you'll be a better ghostbuster.
Now, for Stay On Target, I'll consider taking the stress. Being able to reposition completely if you find yourself outwitted is worth losing actions over, because not being shot at in the first place is far better than having an evade token...
Vader + Engine Upgrade + Stay on Target/Daredevil seems quite slippery, but the Outmaneuver almost seems necesssary now.
Taking either Stay on Target or Daredevil means you will almost never be in an arc you don't want to be, or miss out on a shot that you intend to take. However, the quality of those shots will be lower without Outmaneuver.
Personally, I would stick with Outmaneuver. Any time I run with Daredevil, the stress to correct an unfavourable position ends up spiraling out of control as the green maneuver that must be taken to clear the stress usually results in needing to rely on EU + Daredevil for another correction and stress.
Vader is still one of the best endgame ships in X-Wing. Engine Upgrade make him very hard to hit, makes it almost certain he will be able to hit you and will be out of your fire arc. It's fairly easy to keep him at R1 of his target and Outmaneuver is gravy for boosting his attack.
Far from being obsolete, he is still one of my go to pilots.

I field Vader a great deal. I like lists based on themes...and Vader one of the two iconic villains we may field. I usually run him as-is along with Fett.
On the meta side his ship and pilot skills are quite good. While other ships may fulfill the same roles for less points that does not matter to me as I play for fun. Though I recall a thread or two where Vader lists went into finals if not actually winning.
To the main point, with 2 actions (one of, if not, the best pilot skills) plus PS9 and a decent dial (better with upgrade) Vader makes an top notch arc-dodger. I run him with interceptors (usually a pair of Royal Guard or Carnor and 1 generic) and basic TIE/Ln.

I think Vader, Echo and either Soontir or Turr could make quite a trifecta; the Untouchables. It would be a very unforgiving list to play though, as if you screw up you are pretty much done.
Vader plus two Phantoms is a fun one. Put VI on your phantoms and they're pretty good arc dodgers.
Vader with Engine Upgrade and Outmanouver, plus Echo and Whisper both with VI?
If you want to fly Vader, Engine upgrade and outmaneuver are the way to go.
Love the squad name Dagonet
I like to run Vader with a tooled up Vessery (Outmaneuver, HLC and EU) and a Obsidian Tie with Targeting Computer. It's sleek, it's deadly and it's semi tough....
i'm also considering him as an effective support piece in a way to you could take squad leader and pass actions without even giving up one of your own. don't see it as being a constant benefit but a potentially deadly one in certain situations? sorry i'm new to the game so i'm kinda just lobbing ideas out and seeing what sticks haha
I've always wondered, why not expose on Vader. He seems like a perfect candidate. It makes him essentially a ptl x-wing that doesn't take stress. And can get the extra green/die defensivly when needed.
Vader + outmaneuver and EU is very fast and very mobile. Combine that with a stress less double action and he is IMO as good as Soontir and they are very fun to run together. It won't leave you many points though.
A rich benefactor like a former senator who turned bad should offer him a real ship, like a TIE Phantom
Vader in a phantom with VI, ACD, recon specialist and fire control system would be a decent dogfighter.
