K-turns are overpowered..

By LukesFather, in X-Wing

I have been playing now for awhile, and I have come to the realization that Kturns are over powered. How can you turn a ship around like that in space, I don't see any reverse thrusters or any other means of control. Not only this but you can still fire afterward? would you not blackout? Your telling me that the suits they wear are good for anything? they never have any breathing app to get oxygen they need, they wear helmets that won't help them in space really.

And to top it off, they now added a ship that can 4K and its NOT stressed!!!!!!!!!! This can't be.

everything in this game is overpowered: Focus, Chewy, super Chewy, Super Lando, Super Hawk, Vader, the dice, Wedge, Porkens...on and on. :)

If you haven't figure this out yet, this post is meant for the people who play this game, and see everything has as close to balanced as it should be. Everything in this game can be beat, blocked, dodged and shot to Endor and back. Some people - be it trolls or just people that cant see the forest through the trees, can't / wont see it. For them I am sorry.

This game is fun and even the times you think something is unbeatable (superchewy) you realize that 9 times out of 10, that FFG gave you a pilot or ability in a prior release that would / could stop that build (Jax)

Edit: Sorry, didn't see that last bit ;)

Well, the helmets that the Imps wear would be alright in space. And the Rebel Ace helmet from SWG would be A-okay too.

Never did get that helmet, but bot did I want it...

Anyway, yeah. This game is fairly well balanced, as you said.

I wonder how many people won't realize it is a satire before reading this post.

i came expecting to be trolled and to get a possible laugh.. i'd hope that anyone that saw the title would assume the same

You had me going until this part. You might think its obvious, but there are some really strange issues/complaints on the forum from time to time...

I was happy with this game until they gave us the Expose card.

An extra attack dice for an evade? And all it costs is an action?

Frickin' CHEAP.

K-turns are overpowered.

They distort the maneuvering game and lead to more jousting type situations than might be considered desirable. They also make pilot skill less important than it should be.

They are probably preferable to infinite turning battles though.

This game is pretty much Warhammer 40k

I think overpowered is overpowered..

What was FFG thinking when they added overpowered to the game?! I hope they add a hard counter..

Technically k-turns can work in space. Battlefront 2 is a perfect example. It is like making a U-turn except go up or down instead of left or right. Also since there is no atmosphere in space pilots wouldn't blackout. :D :D

I'm Ywingace, and I approve, the OP's message.

I'm laughing on the inside.

I swear I am!

;)

OP knows modern planes can do inverted loops right?

:P

There are so many possible builds it is pretty much impossible to know if anything is truly overpowered!

It would be funny though if the designers did write a "perfect" build into the game, but the combination is so insane that nobody would realistically try it! And if somebody did stumble upon it, they already have the errata ready to shut it down! :D

Balance is much easier since there are only 2 factions. It starts to be problematic when you have more factions, and to make them more unique, you specialize them too much. When you have just 2 factions, and a load of different builds for each one, some overlapping in functioning, it is harder for a build to dominate if there is some sort of counter even if it was underplayed (see phantom into falcon).

Tie swarm has probably been the closer we got to that point.

I was worried for minute there.

Yeah, you're right. Except for the rule set that changes every 2-3 years, over priced models you have to put together and paint yourself, games that last 2-3 hours, armies that suffer from power creep every time a new codex comes out and a company that doesn't care about its player base except for draining their bank accounts for their products X-Wing is just like Warhammer 40k.

I think I have become overpowered. I drank 5, 5 hour energy drinks. I'm afraid I just broke the game I was playing.

I was worried when I started to read this...

Now to set about discovering what a super chewie is...

Wait wait wait... Chewie is immune to critical hits, essentially?

a double action Chewie with falcon upgrade and c3po (often with a boost, or recon specialist

Hello! Longtime lurker, first-time poster here. Just wanted to point out a physics issue here:

Also since there is no atmosphere in space pilots wouldn't blackout.

Pilots can indeed black out in space! It's not the atmosphere that causes this phenomenon, it's the high g-forces associated with high-intensity maneuvers that causes blood to pool in the pilot's legs and rest of the lower body and not have enough going to his or her brain.

Super Chewie is a strong build, but still beatable. I once managed to ionize one at a crucial time and force it to "flee" the battle area. :-)

I was happy with this game until they gave us the Expose card.

Wait, are you serious? Expose? That's like the worst upgrade in the game.
