Played a team epic game, where one theatre of it was just Chewbacca and Whisper duking it out the entire match (not my ships). The entire other theatre was all of my ships and all of my teammate's ships save for Whisper. The opponents had some good stuff, including a well flown transport focused on action aid and jamming.
Near the end of it, the only things left on the board were my Vessery with 2 hull (I'd brought an upgrade), the opponent's Transport and Chewbacca. I was located at (relative to me) the top right of the play field, while Chewie was near the bottom left. After dealing with the transport, i had to turn into the last portion of the fight. But I was still double stressed from the Jammers. So I had to take two straight 5s. This was a gamble, as I knew I'd be passing in Chewie's arc for one round without actions to help mitigate. I thought I was done for, when he rolled three natural crits. I in turn rolled 3 natural evades. The next turn I was able to take my second 5 straight, shedding my last stress and taking me out of chewie's arc. He had to come around that turn, as the bee line i ran forced him to come about at an odd angle.
Anyway, after k-turning I fired on chewie with my Ion Cannon. I just needed to deal a little bit of damage, so i chose to force him to lose his extra evade die (since he had MF title, firing main guns would have given him a huge advantage). Sure enough, my one damage got through. This is important because it put him down to 1 Hull.
We then streaked straight for one another. We ended up coming to about 1/4" apart. I took a focus, while he took an evade. I fired my primary weapon and got 3 hits out of 4. This put him in an interesting spot. He just needed one tap to kill him. He already had one covered from the evade token, but he couldn't play it safe with his C3P-0 guess. He had to guess both guess 1 and roll 1 in order to stop all three hits. But alas, he got the blank instead. Boom.
To this day it makes me think of that "samurai flash finish", where they both run at each other and strike, and it takes a second for you to figure out which one drops.
Vessery…so spice.
