Tick Tock Men Component Question

By jeffytown, in General Discussion

On the Tick Tock Men Epic Monster, for the horror check it lists a dash for the stat check, and then dash brain for the effect. As far as I can tell, this is unique, and possibly a typo? Is it supposed to be a dash/dash, in which case no sanity is lost? Or does it represent a loss of one sanity with no ability to prevent it? If this is so, however, I would have expected it to have 1 printed before the brain icon like most cards, rather than a dash before the brain icon. I also didn't find the answer to this in the FAQ/Errata.

Thanks for any information!

You don't have to test any attribute to avoid Sanity damage when fighting the Tick Tock Men, and they also do not deal any Sanity damage. This is why there is the dash near the Brain symbol, and a dash on the left.

As for the damage: please note: "dash" is different from "0".

If you write "zero", then effects increasing the Sanity damage of a monster will change this value, and you'll go into the paradox of having no check required, but a Sanity damage. Having the "dash" line, it means it's not a value that can be changed by anything.

Also: the box on the left is also properly spelled: the "dash" on the left implies that no test for Sanity is required. Most monsters have Will to be tested, but other monsters require different stats to be tested. For example, the Doppelganger Epic Monster (coming with the Forsaken Lore expansion) requires you to test Observation.

Let me know if this helps :)
