I had a couple pelican cases that outlived their original items (one is older than I am and outlived several!) and I couldn't think of a better storage solution for x wing, so I decided to use them. Having struggled with pick and pluck in the past to get a perfect fit with objects, my initial plan was to use battlefoam inside the pelican case. No matter what options I selected from their site though, it was going to be a pretty inneficient use of the space. I've used pick and pluck foam quite a bit for other items and while its much better than trying to cut the foam with a knife, it has its drawbacks. Its expensive and so trial and error is kind of a hard/poor way to figure out the best shapes for things, and with all the planning in the world it isnt that easy to get it right the first time.
Fortunately for me, I had some chunks of the stuff left over from before with which I could experiment for the best shape for each ship. It was a huge help. I have to take the radar dish off the corvette when I put it in but that is no biggy. I have about 600 dollars cdn worth of ships so its nice to keep them safe anywhere anytime!
As you can see, with the exception of more huge ships which I might only get one more in there, there is plenty of room to grow!
Also I read the help page and can't for the life of me figure out how to upload images using the forum itself :S
