So I watched a few vids on this creature. Looks like it has neat potential. Vids I saw gave it a Vader upgrade and something else...I have forgotten.

So, is this Shuttle 'O Doom a viable piece? What is the ideal way to kit it out? Do you need a named pilot in the seat? What works well with the shuttle?

Well if your planning to take it for Vader I think you just take a basic pilot and maybe EU, it's going to die you really don't want to invest a high portion of your points into it.

Omicron + Vader, thats it.

Hideously effective for the point cost but it will often give your opponent those extra points (as it destroys itself + gets shot off the board).

Plan & fly accordingly.

The only upgrades you want on it might be EU if you're being elective about Vader use or Gunner if you're going all in on it. I suggest neither.

Never kill your own shuttle unless it has a high likelihood of taking out an equal or greater # of points. Make your opponent spend time chasing it or at least shooting it. If they don't a late game Vader shot 3 rounds later can seal victory.

The doomshuttle is one of the best ship set ups in the game IMO. At a low cost of 24 pts it takes up less then 1/4 of your squad pts and gives you 3 red dice, 10 HP and a crit anytime you wish.

Set it up on the edge of the map and slow turn it inward at a snails pace and take range 3-2 shots. Then when you have a clear target with no shields, trigger off Vader for a crit.

My favorite set up is its base form.
