Battle of Endor Large Game

By WargameHub, in X-Wing

I'm putting together a large game of 6-8 players for next week. To make it easy (for the players) I'm designing all of the lists beforehand. Any recommendations for lists will be welcome.

This is from the game writeup.

------------------------------------------------------------

Players will be split into two teams (Rebel and Imperial).
I will create each 100 point force beforehand and the game will be able to take 6-8 players. Players can choose from available lists.
Game will be based on the Battle of Endor and certain limitations apply:
- Only one Millenium Falcon.
- Only one Tie Advanced piloted by Darth Vader.
- No Tie Phantoms or E-wings as they weren't in production yet.
- No HWK as there weren't any there.
- No large ships.
- Uniques can only show up once per side.
The two most experienced players will lead each side (Todd-Imperial and I-Rebel).
Table size will be 5'x6' and we will be setup in the front of the store where we normally play. I wanted to stick with the lower tables so the kids can see.
- Initial placement will be random with 3-4 zones per side and a random die roll to assign the side. Each zone is either 1/3 or 1/4 of the table edge.
Rebels have the initiative regardless of the final points.
If you want to play certain ships or on a certain side please let me know. Also please let me know if you plan on playing.
** These are the ships we have confirmed coming so far**
9 X-wing
6 B-wing
3 Y-wing
2 A-wing
2 Z-95
1 YT-1300
12 Tie Fighter
11 Tie Interceptor
1 Tie Advanced
2 Tie Bomber
2 Tie Defender
1 Lambda Shuttle

Sounds like a great plan. Love the restrictions on the ships that were actually there. I might try and throw something like this together for our gaming club.

Let us all know how it turns out.

I'm pretty sure TIE Phantoms were in production (and had ceased production due to the events of Rebel Assault II) by the time of the battle of Endor.

But just because we didn't see any on screen doesn't mean there weren't any there :)

No Huge ships?

Also, wasn't Vader busy during this whole affair?

i'd also tighten up the Falcon restriction (Make it Lando + Nien Numb), also remember that Blount and Cracken were aboard the Falcon.

Not to say 'thou shalt' and 'thou shalt not', but if you want to be serious about replaying Endor, you should do it!

Looks like a cool game idea.

My only suggestions would be to make the lists even closer to the movies. No Vader, Luke, Chewbacca, Han Solo, Princess Leia, R2-D2, C3PO allowed since they were not involved in the space battle.

Put Luke in a shuttle WITH Vader as crew! That would be correct!

I just had to say it!! :)

The aren't on the list for being there where the Z-95 which wasn't on screen is listed as being there. I'm going off Wookiepedia as that's the best source I have.

I have been considering the same restrictions on this but then I have to go through and get rid of everyone who died in the first Death Star attack too. I want to leave some flexibility (for me since I'm trying to balance 300-400 points). As it stands right now none of the lists include any of the people either of you listed.

No big ships because I'm the only one who has them, only just got them yesterday, haven't played them yet, and most importantly a lot of the players are fairly new and a couple are younger children.

Vader + Rebel Captive? That's going high on the list of options for the shuttle.

That would be Rebel Captive.

Ninja'd!!

Oh yes! Even better! I was thinking towards the end of the battle when Luke took Vader off DS II,

I hear you, man.

One thing I do have is at least one of every card released so far. And all except the big ships stuff is in a binder.

You could just have the huge ships there as obstacles to make the battle look more cinematic. Also it would spice up the tactics since there were no asteroids in the Endor system

How complicated do you want to make this game, given how many new players you have? i'd be tempted to not have any died-at-Yavin characters, but do a lot of no-name pilots, except for those we know appeared at the Battle of Endor, incl. Lando & Nien Numb, Tycho Celchu, Wedge Antilles, etc.

Someone did up a large format game and posted the Rebel squads they used. I copied them down and will repost them here.

Really don't know anybody on the empire side that's available to add here though. Maybe the empire has to use all generics? The empire does have plenty EPT ships without named guys anyway, but that would probably be less fun. Though if you are going to limit it to people that were there that would eliminate backstabber and most of the named tie pilots that died at first Death Star. Also if you look closely at the movie there were several tie advanced there.

Definitely going to do that. I'm wondering if I could print up/build up some debris clouds. Treat them like large asteroids.

Howlrunner was there. Also the 181st Tie Interceptors although I don't know if any of the names pilots were.

I'm going to keep the Royal Guard Tie Interceptors as an option, makes sense since the Emperor was there and their job was to escort/guard him. No more than 4 of those though.

There were??

Ties and Interceptors...we don't remember Advanced and we just watched it early this week!

While not in the movie Rexlar Brath and Onyx squadron we at Endor according to Wookiepedia (Jendon and Yorr supposedly were in there too flying Defenders)

Pretty sure I saw some when Vader's shuttle was going into the Death Star. Could be wrong but my memory is usually really good. If you have the movie, look at the top down view as the Lambda is going into the Death Star.

Jenny in a Defender with Vessery sounds like too much fun.

Just checked, and there's one TIE Bomber showing. Couldn't see any Defenders. Even when the Emperor arrived, nothing but TIEs and Squints.

Tie defenders are from the Tie fighter game, not the movies.

That's what I thought.
