So uh, they changed large ship barrel roll

By bobbywhiskey, in X-Wing

I actually rallied around changing point costs in a previous minis game I was part of... This was the same most quoted reason for leaving point costs alone. I was still for it there be wise so many minis were useless once lower deep set in (3rd release I think) that by the time we got to the 7th or so release the mini that started the power creep was obsolete!

Here it was argued that 1-2 pilots that may need costs to go up...I disagree with the pilots named so far, and disagree with errattaing point costs for that few. In x-wing we actually have more pilot costs that need to move DOWN than up by a long shot. I'd be absolutely ok with downward cost errata but prefer the way FFG is doin the "fix" to errata even, just wish they'd get the fixes out at the same time!

I like the change, it makes the large ship barrel roll more similar to the small base, in that it gets to slide half of its base length. I believe someone further up made this observation, also.

I also feel like the EH card wasn't quite used as designers intended, leading to hyper mobile large bases. I'd be willing to bet that it was conceived as a way to spend an action to remove a target lock, and most players just see it as a way to gain the Barrel Roll Action. So, this, in addition to likely making the Outrider hypermobile and because of Dash's card ability, led to them mitigating the mobility advantage that it grants.

i personnaly like the new addition for huge ship barrel rolling imagine the old barrel roll for small ships huge ships could jump so much forward with thier 2 small ship base long base if u would place the 1 straight from the top left to the bottom right it would look like this
