A couple of rules questions.

By rapatpamp, in General Discussion

1 - If I am on a space with a monster(s) and I defeat them can I then encounter the space?

2 - If I purcahse a train/boat ticket can I only use the "extra" move to travel along that path or any path ? Example - I have a train ticket can I use it to move along a train path then a water path?

Thanks for replys am loving the game so far XD

Hello

1. Yes, you can.

2. Train tickets are only for train paths and ship tickets only for ship paths. Don't forget that your normal movent is always first and any additional movement from the tickets is used *after* that.

Ah ok tyvm :)

There's a monster that don't let you do an additional encounter phase in the same round if you defeat him. I don't remember its name, but i know it exists. Just see the back of each monster piece until you find this monster i'm talking about.

Forsaken lore added a new rule when fighting an epic monster: you can't choose to encounter an epic monster first if there are another monsters on the same space of the epic monster. You can just encounter him after encountering all the normal monsters on that space FIRST (so, if you want a chance to kill the epic monster you first need to survive all combat encounters with the normal monsters on that round first). Note that you are still able to not kill the normal monsters (in case you score no or few success against the normal monster) and kill the epic monster.

Example: Shub-Niggurath has awakened and she has 3 normal monsters on her same space. You need to fight these 3 normal monsters first in your encounter phase (one by one) and just then (if you have survived all the encounters with them) you can take your chances with Shub in that same round. BUT you can still kill Shub and win the match without having killed all the normal monsters that were surrounding her.

It's always good to remember that epic monsters cannot be discarded or moved (unless its own piece say otherwise). They can only be defeated by TAKING DAMAGE. A good advice for a non-combative investigator is going to Tokyo, there are nice Tokyo cards that DO DAMAGE on them, but you can't discard them if a card says "discard one monster on any space". In this case, you'll need to discard a normal monster or none (if there are only epic monsters on the board).

The monster preventing you from having an additional encounter is Gug.

Aye, as Klaymen said, the monster is the Gug, and I just lost a game due to him. **** it! :D
