can't.. bite.. tongue.. any.. longer...

By executor, in X-Wing

if you want an interceptor that doesn't pop like an academy. you need push the limit

Correct but I'm not seeing the relevance to the topic.

Well... maybe i am getting it wrong but from what i read of the quotes, instead of taking a bit of the text out of context, one guy was basically one lining "get outmaneuver in your interceptors, get on with the times" kind of post, and he got the only logical, practical and politically correct answer you could give to such statement.

Not relevant, i agree, but not completely irrelevant if the first poster by "use outmaneuver" meant to use to counter YT's.

Missed the Outmaneuver part because of the page break.

Imperial Aces didn't really add much to the way Interceptors operate. I love Interceptors, I have 4 so far (and will get me up to 6 soon), but they could have gotten something nice with IA instead of a bunch of new pilots and that title that can only be used on high value ships to make them even more expensive. True, you can save your beloved Soontir or whoever from being oneshotkilled, but honestly I expected (ok, was hoping for) something to make the Interceptor generally more "fancy". Something like getting a free evade token after a boost action or such, would have been nice and would have removed a fraction of the dice rolling guillotine that interceptor players (still) face.

I played something like 30 games against named Falcons (mostly Han + Gunner, sometimes Chewy+Gunner), there had been 2 options everytime: make use of mixed squad with Interceptors and hope the dice are friendly, or use Academy swarm and win.

Really, turrets aren't that much of a problem (Y-Wing etc) they are ok balanced, it's the named Falcon + crazy escort (now with one other hard hitter like B or X and fillers like Z-95).

I will try a few more tricks before putting my Interceptors to rest (will team them with Defender and see what happens). Still, for me, another 360 large ship wasn't really necessary for the fun of the game. Not much I can do about it, though, will have to live with it and adjust (and try to find a use for one, maybe 2 Interceptors, somehow).

I swear, I don't see why everyone is in love with the phantom. It shoots a lot, and gets one extra agility die than a few other ships. Effectively like shooting a TIE at range 3. It's not all THAT great. It doesn't have any abilities that really break the game.

I'd be willing to trade the cloaking device for something that let's me repair hull/recover shields.

The Cloak grants a colossal amount of maneuverability, which is much more dangerous than the agility dice.

Watch someone who knows how to use echo well and you'll see why the phantom is feared.

The maneuverability. I've got friends who are very good at the guessing your opponent part of the game, and the Phantom throws a wrench the size of a truck in that skill for them.

Any FFG source defining Whisper's gender?

They could be either lets not devolve the thread into an argument over gender please.

And no one of them is not a geriatric clone.

Since it's traditional to refer to a ship as She and we don't know the gender of the pilot I prefer to assume "She" Why default to he you sexists! Follow suit with the Malifaux rulebook.

Could be because of the sexism in the Empire documented in the EU.

Why does the whole gender thing have to make everyone so uncomfortable? I think we should just assume that both Whisper and Echo are the Empire's first transgender pilots, and that way everyone wins.

Edit: inb4 MTF or FTM argument.

1st rule of phantoms is you don't talk about phantoms.

Oh calm down exe...

I flew the bomber swarm with howl. Unless you're Sam, I did not play you. Were you one of the two brothers at the tournament? I did not have the pleasure of playing either of you.

No you didn't, didn't think we did. But yet I was one of the brothers...the one that wasn't getting flustered (till that last game). Hopefully we get to play each other at the next one. Was a very fun event.

I'm defining "Whisper"s gender. She's a beautiful lady, like her sister "Echo"

FFG refers to Echo as he.

"Echo" is a female a-sexual, pan-romantic twi'lek, "Whisper" is a transgender Hut.

That would explain why people often calls whisper "son of a hutt"...

Yup, but it was either you or your brother that squeezed me out of fourth so I almost got my hands on those templates. You both flew well that day and yeah, hopefully I run into you next year!

You guys are way off. Who flies the Phantom? Why, Sir Charles Lytton, of course.

It would be interesting to run a tournament at some point where turrets were banned to see what effect it had on the meta. Personally I really like my Y-wing with Ion turret and I find plenty of challenge in trying to get it into band range 1-2 of my opponants ships without ending up in anybody's sights.

Would just power up the phantom a bit, by which I mean a lot.

If by that you mean people would fly them then yes, cause right now the are no where to be seen.

Lol, ok so this is completely ridiculous, but I'll probably run it once just to see the look on my opponent's face

Don't Stand So Close To Me

Nera + Deadeye + APT + APT + E2 + Recon + Ion Cannon + Adv Sens 49 points

Dash Rendar + Autoblaster + Outrider + EU + VI + 51 points

I an just going to copy what I have said on turrets in the past:

I don't dislike turrets being in the game, I dislike how the Falcon / Decimator / Outrider omni turrets were handled (well ignore the outrider as to go above two dice, it loses a range band). The Flacon as it is further encouraged Tie Swarms (as if they needed any more encouragement) and pretty much single handily invalidates a good number of builds from being competitive.

Also, if we have a ship that hard counters ships that survive based only on their maneuverability, in the way the omni turrets do, should we not also have a ship that hard counters ships that survive purely on their tankiness (such as by ignoring shields?) I don't like either.
