Is there a 'New player'-instruction available?

Hi!

I've been playing Eldritch Horror for the past couple of months, and tonight I'm introducing it to a whole new set of players, who has never played this sort of game before.

Knowing myself I always tend to forget something in the walkthrough, so is there some kind of simple introduction "manuscript" available for me to use to get them up to speed quickly?

Just the basic flow of the game, and the more in-depth rules would come later.

Otherwise I might simply make one?

If you dig through the file archive at BGG, I'm pretty sure there's some sort of breakdown of the rules you can show your fella and use to keep the game flowing in the right direction :)

There is youtube tuturials for someone to watch day before but usually always mention how they make a mistake here or there. It so easy to make a mistake in this game or forget a move.

Explain five or six for successes and how bless and curses changes it, how to require assets, that you move and then spend a tickets and how to use the spaces to improve skills or get artfacts in the encounter. Would point out how to do combat, conditions and finally how Mythos work and reactions work. How the objective is to solve three mysteries while making sure you close rumours and keep the doom in check each round by closing gates.

After a game or two I get them more involved with setting the board.

I agree with one of the methods Daisu sugessted. I have new players always watch the FFG video's. I wasn't aware there were errors in them but they seem to work great not only to explain the basics of play but to give players a feel for the game and set them up for the theme. I've been told that the NetRunner tutorials are especially effective with new players but they are all very well done. If you ever just want to watch a cool history of a game watch the videos for Horus Heresy.

My god that they even tried to make a game from that conflict is impressive. I'll never own it of course because of my rule about buying games that I'll only have enough time and players to enjoy bi-annually.... Still, it's a beautiful piece. Which is very fitting or something from the 40K universe.

Daisu is referring to any user made video on YouTube, TragicTheBlathering does a really good game run through with Shub as the AO but does make a tremendous amount of mistakes. He does correct the major ones in his following video/while editing. I would recommend his, and DriveThruRPG does some good stuff. If they happened to do it, The Gamers Table does a good job as well.

I've watched Tragic's videos before, in particular his Arkham Horror w/Dark Pharaoh play through. Tragic does good videos but he does make a lot of mistakes. To his credit, he has dyslexia I believe(he addressed it in the comments of one of his videos) and he does address issues at the beginning of the video. I think if you watch a full play through of his you'd get the gist since you'd see the game being played and pick up on his mistakes. I think it helps to see someone making these mistakes since it might be common ones a new player might come across as well.

I wouldn't mind seeing Husker949 do a youtube vdeo due to the streak of wins he is having.

Haha I would love to except that I can't explain things to save my life. Plus we always have 4 people playing and it would get a little cluttered for a video. But I do thank you haha.
