Shub-Niggurath Questions

By Daisu, in General Discussion

Shub-Niggurath Monster token answered my question after I posted it >_<

Second queston is about her cultists spawning goats and dark young. I always spawn a dark young if two goats are in play, and if another cultist is in play spawns a monster I use a token for another dark young. How do you handle the spawns from cultists?

Yes, you have to solve all 3 of Shub-Niggurath's mysteries in order to win. When Shub awakens, the back of her Epic Monster token reads "This Epic Monster cannot lose Health unless 3 Mysteries have been solved."

And since Epic Monsters can't be discarded or moved, the only way to kill her is to solve the mysteries first.

As for her Cultists, you can choose to spawn either a Goat Spawn or a Dark Young for each Cultist on the board during a Reckoning (and then if you spawned a monster on that space, discard the Cultist). But if you've already spawned all the Goat Spawn and Dark Young onto the board, then you wouldn't spawn anything more if there were another Reckoning. You wouldn't put some other token on the board to represent a Dark Young or anything, you're limited by the number of components that were set aside.

I guess it falls to the same effect as the Axe from the maniac. The axe was if card not in asset deck, asset pool or discard as for example dead investigator or an investgator has it already it cannot be drawn.

There is a card though, number 13 of the new exapansion for the clues of Shub-Niggurath that says spawn a dark young and encounter it. Will it be also the same then since it is not an ambush? So nothng happens and no clue then?

I'm afraid so. If the Dark Young is already on the board, then it can't be spawned away by another effect until its off the board again.

But in the case of card 13, it actually says to gain the clue on that space first and then to spawn the Dark Young. Defeating it gets you an additional clue. So if you can't spawn the Dark Young, you at least get the clue on the space for free. Not too shabby.
