Removing cards depending on the number of investigators

By ruferto, in General Discussion

Depending on the number of investigators I remove one card from the Myths deck: secrets of the past. This card can't be resolved, or it's almost impossible, if you are playing with 2 investigators.

Do you remove any card depending on the number of investigators you play?

Hmmmmmm. Reading the card I don't see how it can't be resolved or is nearly impossible ruferto. Let's take a look:

Secrets of the Past Mythos-Rumor (Top) Spawn one clue

Ongoing - Rumor: Investigators cannot resolve Expedition Encounters.

As an encounter, an investigator on the active Exploration space may attempt to uncover secrets lost to time and history (Test observation). If he passes, he may spend clues equal to half (The number of investigators) to solve this Rumor.

Wreckoning: Search the Exploration encounter deck for each card corresponding to the Active Expedition and return those cards to the game box. Then, if the Expedition Encounter deck is empty, investigators lose the game.

I'm not seeing what makes this nearly impossible. A total bummer, sure, but still doable. (Dependant on other game conditions of course....) I've lost to this one too but I've also beaten it. Why do you remove it? If I was going to remove a rumor (and I'm not) it would be the one that stops me from sealing gates! Have you ever heard Akachi scream? Soooooo grating....

I don't ever change the default elements of the game. I don't trust myself with house rules so I always play by just the standard ones. No issues thus far.

I had that rumour several times and usually get it done before it hits a second time. I find the Sickness rumour in India much more scary.

Only time I have remove cards is to make deck only contianing Hard cards, to make mythos deck very potent in quick two player games.
