No wave 6 speculation thread? You folks are slowing down!

By Eggs, in X-Wing

I'd love the Rogue Shadow at some point. Mainly just to get a Juno Eclipse pilot/crew card.

With regards to the number of ships in a wave, my bet is that it is still 4 ships in a wave, but that FFG is starting to count a large ship as 2 ships (due to being about twice the price).

There is no higher form of entertainment than baseless speculation. Please don't take that away from me.

Amen.

I would like to see a Cloakshape, a Ghtroc, a Skipray Blastboat... maybe some more YT's, but with the 1300 and 2400 present, perhaps a Baudo Star Yacht?

Sorry mate, I get tired of all the 'what's the next ship coming out' threads.. no one knows, and speculation tends to disapoint people looking for specific ships to show up.. just seems useless to me... we'll see them soon enough... then we will know for sure..

Probably won't be small ships in 5, the wording seems clear for only the 2 shown, and they haven't spoiled half of the ships before..

Not taking the Mickey or anything, but why do you read them then?

Haha.. I typically don't, the title caught my interest, so I checked it out..

I just find all the speculation tiresome. Also, some of the outrageous ideas that come out...

Missile boat or assault gunboat!!!

WAVE 6: BOUNTY HUNTERS

Neutral and can be used for either Rebel or Imperial

Also predict new game announcement at Gencon - Fleet Battles

Fleet-scale game with capital ships. Not compatible with X-Wing and at an all new scale. Highly detailed capital ships so we can finally get a star destroyer. Fighter squadrons represented by markers of some kind or small groups of fighters like Wizards did with the Axis and Allies fighters in the War at Sea game.

We would love a fleet scale/size like that. We can dream..

With the YT-2400, we have the last canon Rebel ship, (the Imperials still have the Sentinel.) From the EU, the only new rebel fighter left is the K-Wing and perhaps the Defender. Everything else is older Clone Wars era/Fringe units.

Cloakshape - Clone wars.

T-Wing - Pre A-Wing interceptor that they didn't care for so they sold to fringe factions.

R-41 Starchaser - Fringe ship that was phased out by the X-Wing.

If they never release a third faction, there are a lot of their ships they can pull from them and give to the rebels, but how do they make them appealing when the imperials are getting popular new shinies like the Assault Gunboat, TIE Avenger, Skipray Blastboat, Scimitar Assault Bomber, A-9, I-7 Howlrunner, Missile Boat, Preybird, Starviper, any of the dozen other TIE variants... the list goes on and on for the imperials.

Unless the rebels start getting "Advanced" versions of their more popular fighters like they did in the books, how are they going to make older ships appealing? Do we need more/variants of the Z-95?

Missile boat.

I hope its a large ship for rebels and a small for Imperials.

Yeah I'd love to see a fleet scale game done by ffg, my wallet would cry though but it's a downer anyway.

I think they need to come out with 2 huge Empire ships, rebels have 2 huge ships.

I suspect we'll see the imperial huge ships (or one massive ship) soon enough. Maybe gen con. The huge ships weren't classed as part of a wave though. I'm thinking we'll see them, and one more wave (6), along with rebel aces, and that will be the end of 'phase one'

After that, I think we'll see some new stuff, starting with Star Wars rebels ships, and then drawing on all the new movie stuff.

Wave 12

FFG will introduce a new version of play called Super-Epic. Play space will be 30 meters by 30 meters. A to-scale Star Destroyer and Home One will be released, but you will have to buy your own after-market boat trailer to transport it...and it's maneuver templates.

Upon this announcement some people will call for FFG to make a Death Star for Super-Epic as it is so iconic and others will respond that a Death Star just wouldn't fit in Super-Epic.

Oh, George Lucas will show up to play at Gen Con and get severely beaten...and then severely beaten.

I'd love to see a capital ship scale game for a few reasons. One of which is to show Attack Wing how a proper capital ship game is done! Another, I want my Star Destroyer minis!

It is a little suspicious that Wave 5 is only two ships... hope FFG is hiding something, because a 2-ship release schedule is a let-down from previous waves. Maybe they're saving up for the Imperial big ship (like the Gozanti?).

I see plenty of cause for the Empire to get their Assault Gunboat and TIE Avengers now. The Assault Gunboat fills a niche needed for the empire and the TIE Avenger can help itself and patch the advanced. With these two ships maybe the Empire can finally have list diversity as much as the rebels?

I dunno about the diversity comment - I swing back and forth between playing imps and rebs, and I think both factions have a diverse amount of options. I've only ever played in one tournament (Imdaar), and I got annihalated by three different imperial lists.

I can't speak as to what the uber power lists are, as I tend to just fly casual, but my xwing league group has a lot of diversity on both sides of the scrap.

I'm actually grateful wave 5 is just a 2 ship release - its getting expensive to keep up with all the releases! I think because I started playing when ships were like hen's teeth, I am now conditioned to buy all the stuff I want as soon as the releases come out...

This is very true!

They should bring the K-Wing as a response to imperial huge ships when they come out. The rest of the Rebel ships is not really that interesting regarding new possibilities if you ask me. For the Empire, idk maybe the droid or the scimitar.

After that they should maybe look for a pirate faction, or just do a new game for the new movies.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Yup...but not all of us.

Xactly...and these wonderful biggies cost more to produce, no matter what the clueless people say about plastic cost.

I would be more than happy to get 4 small then 2 large and so on from now on, with a pair of HUGE once a year.

So 4 small, 2 large, and 2 huge ships each year?

Yes, yes, and dammit yes!

From previous comments I think that JBR7 is a playtester. Or at least wants people to think that.

I was looking through some of the other recent Star Wars releases that FFG has been doing and they said in a preview for Age of Rebellion that they had a vehicle profile for the TIE Hunter and a T-47 (link below). While this isn't concrete at all for what we might see next year, it does show that they're at least aware of the vehicles. I only point this out because I want T-47's and TIE Hunters.

The SoroSuub Personal Luxury Yacht 3000, it could give us the Lady Luck and Jade's Fire.

Just read Shadow Games, Nova's Heart is kinda close (close enough to give us an extra named pilot)

And Seriously 3 pages of speculation and so far and no one brought up the Anti-Outrider, The StarViper(aka Virago) as a ship in the wave after the Outrider is released?!?!

We'll just have to wait and see.

Some of us understand that the first sentences told us that Wave Five is two Large Ships...and two Large Ships Only.

Not at all. I am just able to read the words and comprehend them.
