I must say, I am really quite surprised. Doesn't FFG see the demand? 114 pages of it? I for one have not bought most of the recent X-Wing stuff, now we seem to be heading deep into weird and wonderful Star Wars 'Wacky Races' territory (referring to the odd K-Wing, the butt-ugly Tie-Punisher, and the various oddball Scum bounty hunter ships), and I have no interest in the Force Awakens stuff; but I will gladly buy several Assault Gunboats!!

Favorite Rebel ship: Y-wing. It's the workhorse, the trusty standby. It can bomb, ion, torpedo, warthog, stress hog, it's a Swiss Army knife. It's not glamourous, it's not popular (no games named after it) it's basically the Luigi of starfighters. Actually, maybe the Toad of starfighters.

Favorite Imperial non-TIE: do you have to ask?

GUNBOAT is the 'do-it-all' ship for imperials, it's common enough to be fielded in more numbers than the fancier TIEs, it can ion, it can dogfight, it carries missiles, in the games it was even an impromptu bomber. It's tough, reasonably maneuverable, and easily modified per the TIE Fighter storyline. I expect at least one title and one GUNBOAT-only upgrade in any future GUNBOAT expansion.

Now do you begin to see why we love the beast so?

I was thinking the other day that we don't know what's coming in the next wave of ships...and holding out hope that maybe...just maybe...the beloved Gunboat will be on the list. Beyond the Falcon/Poe box...there is still hope...

I saw someone asking about the WHY of Gunboat love...because it was so cool in the game, a treat to fly and could blast enemies from the sky all day and looks really cool in that way Bulldogs, A-10s, and me all have an ugly, but adorable, charm lol.

Prequal ships for Rebels would be better then the Gunboat for Empire.

While you might believe this, you would still LIKE to have that gunboat, admit it, you are reading here 100 pages of "love gunboats", you would not do this if you did not care about the gunboat. I can not accept that people just like trolling that much:p

Also the ARC170 and Torrent would make more sense in Imperial hands, used by backwater sectors who haven't received their new shiny TIEs.

At some point, but I still feel tremors in The Force telling me that FFG is working on dat Rouge One tie-in Rebel Veterans set and so forth.

We are going to see new T-65 X-Wings and more TFA Ships this year and The SCUM Huge Epics first thing for sures.

Half of the recent releases are sets of ships... they get to charge more and the packaging and distribution is costing less...

OK. So 3/4 of the pictures you posted WERE NOT part of an official X-Wing Wave release, and were announced and released seperately from the Waves.

I'm seeing a new marketing style is all. FFG wants popular well known ships and they are going to push the new film goodies and these nice boxed sets in the far future is all.

There is no room for odd ball ships or prequel crap... none that I can see anyhow, which is why I got my Hutt Baby-Boy recent like.

It makes more sense, during the GCW. But X-Wing is no longer a game that is limited to the GCW.
