I didn't use simulator because of the unguided rockets mainly. AS lets you always have a focus to use unguided rockets even if you k turn or bump. I also found with deathrain that after the initial engagement it was difficult to use simulator effectively when I tried it. You also don't get deathrain's barrel roll with it. At the regional I found that in the games I won I didn't really need it and in the games I lost it probably wouldn't have helped anyway.

I was expecting a lot of deadeye rhos, a lot of lowhhrick, probably kanan and also ezra in the phantom II. I didn't play any rhos, but I played vader and 3 nus and was able to remove 2 before they shot. The same pilot skill advantage would potentially help with against rhos also. I also played against lowhhrick and biggs one round and the increased pilot skill was helpful to know where to slam. It was really a toss up between vi and crack shot and both would have been good for different reasons.

Deathrain + 2 HLC/LB Rhoboats is my goto competitive list right now.

Unless they manage to take out the LWF Punisher in 1 turn (unlikely), i havnt lost with it. Even if he survives with only 1 hp, im golden. Prevents people from diving right at my gunboats while they do massive damage, and Unguided Rockets hits pretty hard too assuming i kept my focus long enough to attack.

The 3D printed one is a little bit more stylized, main wings and both angle wings are smaller, but superior one is bigger, main hull of both is almost same long and wide, laser cannons of the main wing is about the half long that the FFG one and FFG got more angle in main wings. Folding wings are amazing.

2 Extra Munitions is overkill on the Gunboat, I think.

And since you can do 2 salvos before reloading, maybe Guidance Chips instead of LRS?

Good news is that frees up points for Vader to take engine lol.

I just got my third Gunboat and am seriously considering running 3x Nu Harpooners w/LRS alongside an Ace (QuickDraw, Ryad, etc).

See, if we WERE in a Gunboat, we'd totally take down everything without needing to retreat to the - I think it was the Garret?

In the minefield clearing mission you are flying a Tie Interceptor and so do your supposed 'wingmen'.

I remember thinking those bastards, how did they turn my own wingmen against me! And then I downloaded the TIE Fighter editor and all was revealed to me.

they just named me them Alpha 2 and Alpha 3 (or whatever Greek letter) and coded them as ‘traitor’ imperials (which still show up as red). All other flight groups with designations just get coded as such to save memory. Oh 90’s computers, i miss you almost as much as 80s computers.

We can only hope. Already have the ones from Mel and play using the rules for Advanced or Defender depending on circumstances Would buy real ones if they'd let me.

X1, v1 and Aggressor but no Avenger. And then the Silencer shows up as XL Avenger, so yeah, that’s good enough, has the right dial, just proxy as an X1 with 3 red dice and boost.

I have it from GOG but the truth is that I spent so much time playing and replaying that ****' mission since it was so freakin' difficult that it made me learn almost everything about it. ?

Hehe...yeah well glad they bought it back on GOG - problem is, the versions they've got on there don't have that awesome iMUSE dynamic BGM to it.

Man when things got really hairy the music was SOOOO good!!!

Come to think of it - I've still got the 1995 Collector's CD ROM! :lol:

Yep, in both GOG and Steam you have all three versions to play. Original (iMuse), collectors (a bit prettier) and special edition (XvT engine but no iMuse).

Alright, I know that I'm the problem because of how well others have done with Nu-Harpooners but I've soured on them due to an inability to joust and telegraphing to my opponents what I'm doing.

I'm thinking of building a list with:


Lieutenant Karsabi — Alpha-class Star Wing 24
Expertise 4
Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Linked Battery 2
Advanced SLAM 2
XG-1 Assault Configuration 1
Ship Total: 40

Rho Squadron Veteran — Alpha-class Star Wing 21
Deadeye 1
Harpoon Missiles 4
Guidance Chips 0
Ship Total: 26

...as the base, then adding a 34 point ace.

Is mixing types of gunboats viable or am I better off choosing one or the other?

Karsabi doesn't like expertise or A slam. Wired and lrs will get you further.
