I’m curious where QD is letting you down. Get her in close, and let her brawl. If it’s stress or positioning or PS there’s different builds to handle those issues. Let us know the struggles and I can help. QD is super flexible and really, IMO, is the top Imp Ace right now.

I’ve flown her competitively for over a year now and am thrilled she finally has top tier alpha support.

Double post... recommend missile Gunboat support over HLC... but HLC are good too if that’s more your flavor

I find QDraw The SF in general really hard to position nicely, which is partially my fault, but When I fly QD, I lose all my shields far too quickly. Are there certain builds that could help, or is this a result of my not great flying, or does it just need more gunboat?

I think I'll try some of these. The sensor cluster one looks like It might help with keeping shield loss to a minimum. Thanks!

Is the three nu's with harpoons really that much better than 2 rho's with crackshot/hlc? I feel like the latter is much more consistent, and it gets you a better Quickdraw (pattern analyzer or AO).

Missiles on a GUN are an optional, cannons are a must, actually.

So I've decided. The Gunboat expansion will be the single one I'll buy more than once.

In fact I am going to purchase four packs and run a 4 Starwing squadron as an alternative to all other Imperial builds I have built.

Seriously, after so many missions in TIE Fighter I cannot stop myself from using several Nu (or sometimes Rho) Gunboats and fight all those named aces opponents will be deploying.
2 cannon Gunboats and 2 missile Gunboats should be fun to fly. Playing the underdog, an anonymous piece of the machine, flying the workhorse etc.

Why I am writing this right here? Where else buying four blisters with a plastic GUNBOAT! model and several pieces of paper is completely normal and understood if not here?

GUNBOAT has surely made many hearts grow large enough to be filled with GUNBOATY goodness.

Soon I shall have my first squad of 5 GUNBOATS which will lead me to fill out the rest of the gaps in my imperial forces, MOAR TIEs! Fighters, BOMBERS, Defenders, (Imp Vets too!) even extra Phantoms to fly that 4 Sigma squad I’ve always wanted to try. Another punisher for symmetry...

Just no more Squints because, well, those are really hard to justify. Especially when the original expansion and Aces already gives you 3 of the little boogers. The Silencer and other FO/SF TIEs just seem to do a much better job.

and then maybe I’ll think about buying more of wave Dozen-plus-one. Maybe. I’m a sucker for prequel ships and astronechs so Sheathipede will be here eventually, as well as Scum Aces/G4H because SotE is also strangely nostalgic.

but getting my GUNBOAT fix is a real thing now, every time I visit LGS I put money down on another GUNBOAT and must free that beauty from her plastic shell, punch out all the cardboard, assemble the dial and keep all her stunning tokens in bags separate from ‘the rest’. The smell of the freshly printed cards, the shape and feel of the model, my dreams from over 2 decades ago finally made real, the way I wish a had more hands so I can zoom around the room with all my GUNBOAT GLORY GIRLS.... 2017, you were saved from utter horror and stupidity by the single greatest XWM release ever. Thank you FFG, May I have some more?

Waiting for Imp Aces 3: double Alpha surprise. One GUNBOAT painted in classic TIE Fighter SIM livery and the second GUNBOAT presented in FO colors. With Stele coming home in his real favorite ship.

I haven't read the books but X-Wing: Isard's Revenge and Showdown at Centerpoint have GUNs in the stories. I don't know if there were any named pilots.

Wookieepedia's page cites those two - but I don't remember them actually being present. Maybe the novels used much vaguer terms and the page editor conjectured that those were Alpha-class Star Wing gunboats?

What could be the PS for the generic? a cheaper PS1 or a more expensive (and elite) PS5? Which squadron to choose?

My old ability for Noble Calder was considered too "selfish" (noble?) for an Imperial, but makes sense with the escorting duties the Veerpal performed. Any suggestions? And heck, I will bump his PS to 8.
