Only one pic?

Disappointed

Sad Quattro here. :(

I got all four of mine! And yes, they are everything I hoped for!!!

Thanks @DXCrazytrain, but this was a community-wide effort, on the forums, on Reddit and elsewhere. This might be the longest Gunboat topic, but it certainly wasn't the first!

Now... do I post the Shawn Michaels work-here-is-done gif, or the DiCapro Gatsby champagne toast gif...?

Why not both? Treat yourself; it's a special occassion :D

Those paint jobs are amazing, i think the silencer looks better now.

I need Gunboat battle report ASAP!!

I got my gunboats in today but can't help but feel that the wings are just far too long.. I don't remember them being so massive in the games and original artwork.

Sure the gunboat model we have is different to what was in the video games what with the squashed cockpit area and sized-up ion cannon bit but .. hmmmm I suppose I am just not so keen on the size of the wings.

Wings were always large. It looks like the width/length proportions are spot on.

The miniature has the wings in a slightly more pronounced angle. Perhaps to make it look closer to the lambda-class shuttle cousin, or to the original X-wing model.
I actually like it more like that.

Other than that detail, it is basically the same as the models in the videogames, or FractalSponge's. With the difference of the laser cannons being wing-mounted on the mini (as in the artwotk), instead of them being chin mounted as in the games.

I have noticed, though, that the mini has two extra laser cannons that neither the artwork or the games had: to the sides of the cockpit, around the "cheek" area. Perhaps to accomodate the fact that the mini can equip 2 different cannon sets (above the cockpit and under the wings) in addition to the standard laser cannons (cockpit mounted).

The guns above the cockpit are the ion canons, the wing mounted guns are the laser cannons. In Alliance you can clearly see this when flying the ship (the blue ion beams emenate from above the cockpit, the green lasers from below).

The FFG model itself is clearly influenced (if not outright based on) the beuatiful modern @Fractalsponge Gunboat renderings we've discussed, adored and drooled over so many times over the course of this topic, right down to the solar panelling on the wings.

I really hope FFG employed FractalSponge to make their gunboat model...

Agreed, I've never seen one better; but to get that level of detail, the scale would have to be larger I'll bet.

Oh for sure it;s not the same model; modelling for mini scale entails some exaggeration, especially of the guns and finer details, but the production model is close enough to FractalSponge's that if it's someone else's work it's a rip-off of his. And whilst he wouldn't have a legal leg to stand on given that his is derivative of someone else's already (and that someone else is owned by Disney), morally and ethically it would be super sh!tty to copy his work without his say-so. There were a lot of hours put into that model.

The rendering in the Stele Chronicles depicted the side mounted guns as similar to the wing mounted cannons on the Lambda, with a rounded joint to presumedly swivel the guns in some fashion. The huge honking guns on the FFG model are a nice upgrade and further distinguish GUNBOAT from big brother shuttle.

His ships were used in an official book published before Disney bought Star Wars. So his design for the Star Wing (and TIE Avenger) is the last canon depictions of those ships.

Hmm... I see you used different colors to bring the wires out on the Silencer. Kinda ruins that slick look.

I'm keeping the black as is, but changing the cockpit to match my Gecko Squadron 88.

Alright, first "true" battle report.

This Sunday we have a Regional in Pescara and I've been testing today looking forward to it.

Tried 2 rho squadron with deadeye and harpoons, first match with lrs, second one with guidance chips.

Third ship was a silencer (kylo) with PTL and advanced sensors.

My opponent fielded a palpaces with fel and quickdraw with veteran instincts and lwf.

So uhmmm: as it has been pointed out before, it needs solutions for it's action economy, and it suffers jousters incredibly.

In the first match the Lambda was nearly wiped out by the two harpoons but Palpatine, green dice and a bit of luck made it last through the initial salvo.

In the second match, with guidance chips (and advanced slam), more damage passed through its defense and made the GUNs last a bit longer.

But ****'

I am tinkering with some support ship ideas right now. :|

really no point for deadeye rhos, imo

you're just much better off with gamma vets at that point

neither of them are going to live long enough for reload to really matter, and at least the bomber can K-turn

@ficklegreendice what ept would you put on them?

I just wouldn't fly harpoon rhos, especially not without OS-1

HLCs are where it's at

and yes I'd take an LRS HLC nu over a harpoon gchips rho

I picked up 3. I'll get 2 more later for the full ISD complement. ;-) Saved room in my card folder.

I forgot to mention that I had OS-1 on both of 'em.

With deadeye and LRS you can get as much as two turns of fire, hlc forbids you to slam. :(

I have another question:

Let's assume that my GUN has enemy A locked and has deadeye and OS-1

I move, then reload and get my weapons disabled token, enemy A gets somehow out of arc and I only have Enemy B in my arc.

Can I use deadeye to fire my missile at it? Or does the title forbid me to do so since I still have my target lock on Enemy A?

Terrible grammar.

You may perform attacks with torpedo and missile secondary weapons against ships you have locked even while you have a weapons disabled token.
